Free Access to The Louvre Art Collection Online

950

Not sure if this is a deal (Mods: feel free to move to the Forums if you think it isn't) The community has spoken and decided that, yes, this should be considered a deal. It's definitely free and doesn't cost anything in the form of travel or entry fees. Per a newsletter article I received today, The Louvre is now making their entire art collection available online in a series of browseable albums. This means you can enjoy one of the largest collections of historical and modern fine art from the comfort of your own home.

Note: this is different to the free virtual tours they had last year.

Because I'm giving others, such as yourself, full opportunity to decide if you think it's a deal or not. Sharing is caring, after all.

        full opportunity to decide

Bargains are posted after you have already decided. Read the posting rules.

Summarise briefly why it is a bargain - why did you buy it or consider it worth sharing?

Voting is whether we agree or not…

    Good for Samsung Frame TVs

But the dumb one of the Winklevoss twins told me the only way to see art without travelling overseas was to give him money for NFTs.

    Deal is obviously a scam.

Better than standing in for hours!

Ps Maccas at the Louvre is terrible. Yes I had a Royal with cheese.

    • -1

You flew all the way to France to have Maccas. LOL OK

      • +3

I could be wrong but I suspect that wasn't the only reason they flew to France

        • Not only to France, he went into the Louvre museum to have Maccas.

@liongalahad: Again, I could be wrong but I suspect that wasn't the only reason they went to the Lourve.

            • @Pulseidon: I do so hope it was the one and only reason

      • and beer, not talking about an old paper cup but a glass of beer.

but it wasn't a glass, it was plastic but the beer was good (Kronenbourg 1664 but made in France)

What did you put on your fries instead of ketchup?

      • +3

French Maccas is actually good. Sauce is great and they have deep fried cheese!

        • Oh I didnt see that on the menu! Found the Louvre Maccas terrible but in the French countryside roadside Maccas was amazing.

Honestly any recipe you cook with the local ingredients turned out amazing. In Annecy, locals told me they cook meat with lavender, thought it was a joke, but I tried and made steak with lavender, it was amazing!

@Bid Sniper: European produce is fantastic. Not to travel brag but I can’t enjoy Aussie tomatoes after eating Italian ones. Tastes so different

I don’t know why but the first time I went to Europe I thought it would be interesting to eat maccas in every country I visited (usually in transit). I enjoyed/didn’t mind any of them except in Dubai airport. That burger was foul and put me off McDs for the better part of a year

@firstpostbekind: lol, someone who comments on flavour, yet highlight of Euro tour is muckdonals.
btw, tomatoes originated in south america, the roma tomato is from usa, and the worlds biigest producer of them is india.
Try an heirloom tomato and them comment on taste

@kzrocky: Now now. Before you let your emotions run away with your reading comprehension skills, nowhere did I mention that McDonalds was a HIGHLIGHT of any trip.

As for your tomatoes anecdote - thanks I’ll file that away in no part of my brain

@firstpostbekind: Agreed on Euro produce. Their bread, cheese and smallgoods are just next level.

            • @firstpostbekind: Its quite striking the difference first time. Same thing you've cooked for years tastes completely different and in a good way. Also its all cheap too. Local markets reasonable prices.

Eggs was another thing, not only tasted better but much heavier than what we have. Meat too cheap meat cant go wrong cooking it, even a trash teir cook can make a great steak.

I had a McArabia at Dubai, not bad but forgettable. That said French food in Dubai hotels tasted way better than anything in Paris. Only country was good, well that was my experience anyway.

            • @firstpostbekind: Perhaps it was camel meat?
