The Vornado Energy Smart line includes the 533DC — a more compact, DC-motor air circulator with up to 80% energy efficiency. Simple variable speed control gives you precise airflow up to 22.5m while our signature “Vortex Action" creates whole-room circulation, keeping the entire room cool and comfortable. The Vornado 533DC comes with a variable speed settings to adjust airflow from whisper quiet to a powerful high setting for quick room circulation, multi-directional airflow and a 5-Year Replacement Warranty. Maintaining the 533DC is simple with a detachable grill that provides easy access to the blades for cleaning. Unlike typical fans, a Vornado creates whole room circulation using an airflow phenomenon called “Vortex Action". An inlet guide cone directs air to the most efficient portion of the blades. In turn, the wide, heavily contoured blades churn the air into motion. The air then travels through a duct which sculpts the air into a column shape. As the air exits the Air Circulator, Vornado's AirTensity Grill straightens the airflow to ensure the air travels long distances. The airflow column will spin and twirl to the opposite corner hitting the wall where it will split of and recirculate to the centre of the room. Plus, the 533DC is backed with an industry-leading 5-year replacement warranty. Power Cord Length 1.8 metres. Available in white colour.

It’s quieter at low power, good for lukewarm nights.
Its quieter if you turn it off.
On cold nights I do turn it off, even at low power it’s too chilly for any breeze.
@AustriaBargain: But I hope you can see the absurd in buying a small, powerful machine for $150 to use it like a weak counterpart that could sell for…$30?
@The Milk Man: i turn it up as required. On a very hot day it might be full power.
"Vortex action" is an interesting claim. Space is silent to human hearing meanwhile one of these on high will make your ears bleed
What has space got to do with "Vortex action"?
A vortex (plural vortices/vortexes) is a region in a fluid in which the flow revolves around an axis line, which may be straight or curved. … Vortices are a major component of turbulent flow.
They must of forgot to jack this one up 10 bucks with the spend and save sale.
This is my 2nd/3rd favourite after 633DC (have all the models ha) but this is a good price esp with kogan first membership already.
I have the 633dc and can confirm it's noisy even turned up past half way, super quiet when on really low though for some air movement.
These vornados are too directional, always have to adjust the angle slightly.
To be honest Id get another of these Xiaomi X1 DC smart fans next time/instead.
It’s literally the point of the fan though. Directional
yeah, they are actually designed as an air circulator to point at walls to get airflow, silly not pointing it directly at yourself when it's hot. Great for indoor trainer setup etc, just saying they are a bit over hyped
They are incredible for their purpose though, and great value. We've had two situations where it has been invaluable, firstly we were in a rental were there was only a single wall mount AC in a living area, we were able to use the Vornado to push the cool air all the way down a 10m corridor into our room. Secondly we had a BBQ last weekend and just as we started to cook it started to bucket rain down, so we pulled the BBQ under cover, but then it started to smoke up too much, so we got the Vornado and pointed it at the BBQ, and it pushed all the smoke straight out. Thirdly we had a group of friends over and the AC failed, so we used the Vornado in a large room, of which it actually created air circulation by pointing it at the corner of the room, and helped keep the whole area cool. If you want a fan, don't get the Vornado, it's a tool for specific uses.
@onlinepred: Agreed, great for those applications. I like having some airflow in winter and could use as a circulator, can have them on very low speeds.
Ps. mine need a vacuum actually, not super easy to take apart.
Is this the fan everyone went crazy for last time?
I have a vornado 660. It's loud and does as an average job at cooling. Overhyped and overpriced. I also have the Kogan circulator fan which does the same job for half the price but also rotates and has a remote (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-dc-motor-circulator-small…).
Basically you can get the same or similar cooling for a lot less.i wish they would do a remote control one of these again
love this machine apart from the fact that it's noisy AF…
anything above half way (which is the minimum point you'll need in order to get some ventilation flowing through the room), and the dB goes waaaay up.
super noisy. similar to sitting beside the wings/turbine of the plane.
