You Shouldn't Be Forced to Eat Your Own Home?

Paul Keating says Australians owed superannuation increase after being 'robbed' of real wage adjustments

If you can afford to pay $1m+ for a house and end up with say $250k in super then you probably should eat your own home, your choice? Can't have your cake and eat it at the same time or ScoMo from marketing got us all fooled?

  • LOL some of y’all are silly.

Forcing people who only have one property out of their PPOR because it’s now worth over a million dollars.

    Clown thinking.

I really don't get this 'family home is sacred and untouchable' stuff at all. (But certainly it is under threat from Aged Care; but that's another story).

Surely, if older homeowners were encouraged to downsize it would release their family home to other families that actually need the space.

The encouragement may mean recognising a portion of the family home as an asset (towards the asset test for the old aged pension); such as value over $1million is considered as an asset.

Politically though it seems impossible. (As the Labor reforms and Liberals scare campaign proved in the last election).
