Viofo A119 V3 Dash Cam Help

For the past few weeks my dash cam has been furiously beeping on random occasions whilst I am driving.
I am unable to see if there are any alerts on the screen because it is too small.
Today I took out the micro SD card to view the videos and realised that the dash cam stopped recording each time that it started beeping.
The card is a Samsung Evo Plus 128GB class 10 which is always formatted in the dash cam as advised by Viofo.
I purchased the card from Harvey Norman, so I assume that it is genuine.
Just wondering if anyone else has this issue with the Viofo A119 V3?

I had the exact same issue. I purchased a new 256gb Samsung Evo Plus and replaced the 64gb Samsung Evo Plus SD card I originally had put in the dashcam. It now work fine

… has been furiously beeping on random occasions

How do you know it wasn't "happily" beeping? 😋

It sounds more like the card that's the problem than the camera. Try it with another card (even a regular one) and see if it still does the same thing. If it doesn't, then you probably just need a new card.

I've been using the Samsung Pro Endurance card for the last two years (in a different dashcam) and haven't had any problems (yet).

    • Trust me, it's not a happy dash cam 😂
It's a warranty replacement for the original unit in which the GPS failed.
I'll take your advice and start troubleshooting the issue by first trying a different card 👍

I have the Viofo A129 but if it is the same, if it beeps continuously it means it is not recording (as you have found out). So either change SD cards, and if that doesn't work, reset the dashcam. If even after that it doesn't work, then you can update firmware before finally giving up and it's potentially a faulty unit.

    • Thanks, my last firmware update failed. I should probably contact support and get that sorted too. I find the firmware update process somewhat confusing, particularly as the instructions in the manual are different to the instructions on the viofo website.

My Viofo A129 did that too with 128GB card. Changed to 64G and hasn't complained since. Haven't got around to changing to another 128 yet. Might be an issue with 128g cards even though it says it supports them.

  • I had the exact same problem with a unit purchased from HN. I already had a working one installed in the car (from another store) so I was able to test by swapping positions (wiring), cards, etc. The unit was faulty and I had to send it to someone that HN gave me the details for. They refused to let me take it into a store because it was purchased online. 2 months later they claimed they couldn't fault the unit but sent me a 'new', but also faulty one. On the third attempt I got a working one. Good chance I won't be buying this brand again.

    • HN online has no relationship (except name) with the bricks and mortar stores. Most of HN stores are franchise and I believe that online is also franchise.

  • I have 1 Viofo A119 v3 and 2 Viofo A129 (1 duo and 1 pro)

The Duo (1080p) makes a noise every time a new file starts , i believe it can be disabled in settings but have not been arsed to do so yet.

The Pro (4k) only makes a noise when i am stationary for some time parked and the camera remains on but it appears it stops direct recording until it detects motion again (standby mode?)

No noises with my Viofo A119 v3

Just FYI OP , No real issues with using the Samsung Evo Plus its a decent card but for Dash-Cam applications it is better to have the Samsung PRO Endurance it will last along longer. Also FYI make sure your video recording is set to 21:9 as it makes the footage capture less sky and captures better width instead , when you go through the video recording options you should see an entry for 21:9.

    Good Luck

Edit: thinking about your beeping sound a little more, usually that aggressive beeping means your SD card is full and needs a confirmation to format the card to free up space , just don't forget if you format the card anything in your "emergency recording" folder should disappear with it also. so if you need to access your files do it before you think about reformatting.

  • I have a Viofo A129 duo which had a Samsung micro sd card (now I am using a WD purple card). I also experienced a similar thing. The card stopped recording intermittently. It cant be an issue with the card wear out because it's less than 2 months old and I drive only ~20 minutes every day. The sad thing was I had disabled beeps in my camera.
