  • Does it have an "activated by" date?

    • "You need to activate your SIM card within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion in order to take advantage of advertised inclusions."

That's what make their offer less attractive - for example, my current contract/plan/prepaid won't end until May, then I have to give up on their current offer since my sim would be expired when I can activate it.

I mean Coles Mobile has offer all year round, but the really good one (like last batch, $99 for the 365 day plan) only lasts so long.

Can someone confirm how does it exactly impact your allowance if you couldn't activate within 30 days? I know their vague reply that says "You may not get full allowance" but has anyone experienced this and know how much and what you actually 'lose'?

        • +1

Activated a previous offer about 3 months after purchase, all fine and full 120GB

I actually called coles mobile a few months ago regarding to the 30 days. I was told the 30 days was just to ensure you got the current plan. It will still be valid after 30 days, but if the plan changed, you won't get the same plan. Since the plan has been like this for so long, I don't believe it will change in short period, should be ok if your plan end at May.

    • This is just to cover themselves. If the inclusions in their offered plan change after 30 days then you get whatever the new plan is at that time. You can actually wait months before activation if you like.

  • My daughter changed over to this on the last Coles special few weeks ago ,was with Vodafone she is complaining that the reception is bad with Optus she's done the network reset etc no difference ,it is a good deal but she is still trying to fix the reception issue & the optus signal map says it same as Vodafone .?

    • Doesn’t Coles uses the Vodafone’s network?

      Sorry, I was wrong.

    • Coverage issues aren't always the network. Sometimes it can be the phone. Try the sim in a different handset.

      • Will do thanks .

      • try handset that support 700mhz

The best network coverage in Australia is still Telstra.
A bit expensive, but the only avenue if mobile coverage is bad in certain grey area like your daughter.

    • Yeah. Wife had the same issue too.
Didn’t have any issue previously when she was with Woolworths or Aldi

I suggest you wait for it to be 120$

      Didn't tit you off?

This is with Optus. Hence, Floptus.

I was with Belong(Telstra), Kogan (Vodafone), but this is now the worst for reception.

Calls frequently drop out at home, on the train, etc.

Would NOT recommend a long-term use of Optus network.

I only joined as it included a good number of international calls.

I regret leaving Boost, I always had good 4g reception, now I'm only getting 3g.

      • +3

I was just considering switching from good ol' boost, thanks for the warning!

Yeah I have this deal and the fact is it hardly ever works. Speeds are really bad.

Does anyone know if Wifi Calling is supported with Coles Mobile?

    • Nope no volte or wifi calling

      • oh no. I was hoping to use wifi calling given all the bad comments about reception - I am with Boost (Telstra) in the Syd CBD and my building gets pretty bad reception.

Anyone else in Sydney CBD with Coles mobile care to comment on their reception?

  • Anyone using Coles Mobile on iPhone but still have coverage issues?

  • +1

    The reception is terrible…

  • Link's not working?

  • Just curious, would reception differ between the actual provider and a MVNO? In this case, would a direct Optus sim fare better than Coles sim with respect to reception?

    • Nope, you would get same reception as you get with Optus directly. MVNO have access to full Optus network

  • Anyone having trouble with MMS?

  • I am with Optus on a month to month (no contract) at the moment. I would like to go with the Coles $129 deal but it states "for new customers only". As Coles uses the Optus network, does that mean I am already a customer or would I be classed as a new Coles customer and therefore be ok to go ahead? Not very tech savvy I'.m afraid

    • Nah.. I am pretty sure it means a new customer to Coles mobile. If not then the onus is upon coles to clarify what a 'new customer' mean.

    • It means you are new customer to Coles Mobile :-)

  • Thanks guys, hopefully I can find an employee in Coles that knows what they are talking about, or maybe I should ring their head office instead of going in the store.

    • good luck with that.

  • just ported from my Lebara into this plan and it just wouldn't activate. I need to wait for the chat support to be online in the morning.

    • EDIT: it is activated next day

Does anyone know if the Coles gift cards can be used to purchase this? Thanks!

    • +1

Also importantly, do these purchases go towards flybuys spends?

      • +2

        yes

  • TOTAL RUBBISH NETWORK . I regret moving to coles mobile. only voice working and no data no sms for 3 days now. they r "looking into it". I have asked for full refund and will go back to Boost

    Thanks for the post.

Both mine and the missus Boost Mobiles running out in a few weeks so stacked this Coles offer big time for the 120 GB deals for $129 each!

Had a 10000 Coles flybuys offer for spending $50 in 4 consecutive weeks - Bought my sim on this offer last week .
Also a 4800 Coles flybuys offer for spending over $120 in 1 transaction. Bought a sim for the missus today

    So Sim 1 cost will be $129-$25 (1 week's flybuy value) = $104
    Sim 2 cost = $129 - $24 = $105

Paid for these with Coles $250 voucher which I got from 55000 ANZ rewards (about a 10% discount on cash) so bringing total cost down to about $188 for 2 Coles 365 plans!

Now just got to figure out what to buy from Coles below $50 for the next 3 weeks without getting ripped off!

  • Just coming back to provide feedback.

Activated mine last night port from Boost (telstra) new sim active this morning.
Getting 20Mbps - 50Mbps via speedtest ios app in Sydney CBD
