This seems to date back to 2017 when Lexar was still under Micron.

    More reviews on US side.

Seems like a decent enough drive.

How's the speed. The bench marks are all for 512GB. Wonder how the 240 fares, especially since it looks to have a sizeable cache vs 512GB

      • CrystalDiskMark: https://imgur.com/a/XRgbdu2
        tl;dr
        ~450MB Read, ~370MB Write.

        • Got similar benchmarks as yours (empty drive).

Tried copying about 70gb worth of videos over. Ran at just below 300 for the first 40gbs, then dropped down to 130 odd for the last 30gb.

After the first transfer, and about 30 seconds later. Copied another 12 gb over. Ran at 300 for the first 8 or so, and dropped down to 130 for the rest.

Then reran the bench, write dropped down to 130 odd.

Finally copying another 40gb over, ran at 130 for the first 20, then it was jumping around from 60 to 120 and down to 30.

Looks like some sort of dynamic cache that gets smaller as the drive fills.

Good enough for 30 bucks and probably better performance than the 500GB WD Go.

          • @dyziplen: Could it be thermally throttling?
Try putting it between two icepacks and see if you get the same result or if it stays at the peak write speed for longer.

@gamerkonks: Its at 48 degree currently, so ain't that hot.

Also, I copied 155gb over in total, but smart is reporting 57GB read and 199GB written. There is definitively quite a bit of caching going on, storing SLC first then to TLC or maybe even QLC? Probably TLC given the drive's age. Or maybe Lexar changed the design after it got bought out from Micron.
