Are you sure your 2 year old card on record hasn't 'expired'?
Mine is still ok, been using since circa 2018.
Maybe something to do with your linked card. Either cancelled, changed, expired or detected by YT.

Is there anything else premium gives you besides ad-free?
It's use mainly on devices by my wife and kids. It gives you Youtube Music also.
Ok, it seems it WAS a funding issue, some how the payment never went through, I linked another card and now it works.
