I think a single probe is all that one needs for roasts etc. Would one really require 6 probes………& seems a tad overkill and makes BBQing more of a hassle?

A single handheld one should be fine for steaks, sausauges, chicken etc as a guide. A wireless/bluetooth app is not needed for those. One for the most part will know when things are cooked assuming you BBQ fairly regularly.

i use the 2 probe on the bbq with 1 probe reading bbq temp and the other probe for the meat temp. its very useful for peace of mind when cooking thick cuts . i like the BT function as I can sit in the spa and wait for my phone to alert me when the meal is done.

    • I prefer 2 probes with my roasts. As the roast cooks, the muscle pulls and changes shape, and while the probe was centred in the middle mass of the meat at the start of the cook, it's usually not at the end. For example, an eye fillet strip I put on the other day read 42 / 48 on the probes. I just took it to 52 and let it rest, it continued to rise to 57 without heat being applied. If I'd gone by the lower temp probe, it would have been overdone.

It depends on the type of BBQ you have. If you are using a standard Weber, then two probes is more than enough, but if you have a large offset smoker where you can cook multiple different meats, then the extra probes are great. You also don't want to be opening the lid of the smoker constantly to check temps with a handheld probe.

A single probe is nowhere near enough, even for a standard Weber.

      • Absolutely! I might just add that I am looking to use these probes more for meats over the coals and smoker.

I've got the 6-probe model in your OP. It's good. For that price, it's fantastic.

    • It really comes down to how much money you are spending on meat. If I buy a 5kg grass fed brisket for $100 then you better believe I will have probes all over it as I am not risking losing my investment.

  • That's a great bargain. The 2 probe model is around that price on its own.

You don't need to use all the probes, you can unplug the ones you don't need.

I'd be all over this is I didn't have the 2 probe model already. Great battery life, reliable, highly recommended.

    • Thats great to hear! I don't need the 6 probes but figured that at least it's there if need them or as spares!

  • Any specials coming on IBBQ-4T & pen?

  • Anybody order one and if so has it been shipped?

I received a shipping notice last Wed BUT Aust Post still shows as "we have got it BUT No tracking history".

So order was placed with Aust Post but not yet dropped off to post office, or lost or just sitting there with no movement. Strange as other items ordered after this and from further away have since arrived.

    • Yep! Purchased on 28/3 and received 2/4. Tracking number provided and appeared in my Auspost app straight away.

      • Thanks for confirming.
Yeah. I got the tracking number on the day but nada since then other than "No tracking history".

I ordered the 2X model which now shows from China. Was local Aust Post when I ordered. Just better not be one from China but advertised local i.e. they order from China but in the meantime use a Aust Post label to book it onto their systems. It makes it seem as though it was shipped already but is in fact awaiting delivery to sender who will use the Aust Post label when it arrives. I have seen this occur before. Dodgy as anything.
