Does anyone know what the hourly wage for a 14 year old at Maccas is on a Saturday?

  • Wage depends on location and awards of which you haven't provided yet

Page 4 for Juniors under 16.

    • That gives the base wage for FT/PT,

More likely it would be casual which is on Page 10 (which is $11.76 on normal weekday, $13.07 on weekends).

  • After a quick google search:

Regular Big Mac Meal/hour ($9) on weekdays
Large Double Quarter Pounder Meal/hour ($11.25) on Saturdays (25% loading)

    • Is that all? I'm sure I used to get something like $7.50/hr for a while and then about $8.50 when I had a birthday. You'd think it would have gone up a bit more in 20 years. Especially with the minimum wage being around $20

I think people haven't taken into account the casual loading which takes Mon-Fri up to $11ish (Vs PT at just under $9).

That's also for under 16 years old. At 16 it increases each year up to $26 for a 20 year old casual (on the fast food industry award.

Where do you get a regular Big Mac meal for $9 these days??

      • Where do you get a Big Mac from? not some squashed pissy thing that used to be called a Junior Burger…

  • Thanks all. I wonder if any Maccas pays above the award rates.

    • I highly doubt it. They are notorious for offering fewer shifts after you get older as well.

Honestly, at 14, that is a reasonable rate, and more importantly, work experience that will help a lot in future.

Macca's seems to have the best customer service of the fast food places, so I assume they have the best training, and will likely be held in higher regard by future employers.

While others leave uni at 22 with no work experience, and struggle to find a job, you will have proven work experience, shown that you are reliable, can work in a team etc.

      • This. I don't actually think the rate is that bad. A 14yo has no financial commitments… If you can knock out a couple of 8 hour shifts per week, you're looking at ~$150, maybe a little more if you work Saturday.

At 14, $150 per week is pretty good… Think of all the yo-yos you can buy.

Will agree. Cut my teeth at a McDonald's as a first time worker. Went on to be a very decent chef with a good pedigree and work ethic. I think I was on maybe $7 odd at the time. Average pocket money was $10 a week at the time. That's good pay for good lessons on work ethic. Also the free food at the end of the night never hurt(anything but the waistline!)

      • maccas have the best training
they can actually count to 24 nuggets

KFC… man I always get short nuggets, chicken and wicked wings, dunno how many times I've complained and had to go back or call u0, I reckon 50 percent of the time

I try to count each time I go

      • This was my experience during my teens as well. It was always accepted that having Macca's on your resume held the most weight compared to other fast food chains due to the perceived quality of customer service training you get as an employee.

I assume this question is for your 14-year-old child, unless you became a parent at 14

    • Sounds like asking for someone based on older posts. Unless it’s a shared family account.

  • Well going by the Fast Food Industry award as Hybroid poster

    Thought it was 15?
