Hi,
I'm getting quite high temperatures on my new PC. I get no less than 37 degrees C on idle (nothing open & desktop only), around 45-50 degrees when web browsing (not much open really, if I have a lot of stuff open it can stay over 50 degrees for some time) and the temperature seems to max out at around 73 degrees C (Cinebench R23 multi core run).
I'm running a 5600X with a Noctua NH-D15, and I'm a little disappointed because a lot of people say this is the best air cooler out now. Do you think these temps are normal? If not, how can I fix them? Also, the PC isn't very quiet either (as I thought it would for a poor thermal PC) - it's around 45 decibels on full load. Some people with similar configurations say their PC is silent even on full load and I feel like I'm nowhere close to them both in terms of thermals and noise.
I'm not doing any manual OC on the processor, however I do have PBO on for the CPU and XMP on for RAM.
Thank you!
Here are my PC specs:
- Ryzen 5 5600x
- Noctua NH-D15
- Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2
- Crucial Ballistix 3600MHz
- RTX 3070 Gigabyte Gaming OC
- WD Blue SN550 1TB
- Fractal Design Define 7 Compact (2x 140mm front, 1x 120mm rear)
EDIT: Here are the temps when I'm playing a game (HW Monitor data):

Take the max temperatures, as it took me a while to screenshot. I was playing Minecraft (the only game I could install quickly after a hard drive wipe..) at 1440p, fabulous graphics, render distance 22. There are weird stutterings here and there even though the framerate average is around 130-140fps but more concerned about the temps.
It is within spec. I have noticed that temperature rises more for single core applications rather than multicore (it is un-intutive). To test try to run Prime-95 with 2 threads vs 12 threads (with max heat torture test). If the CPU temp remains below 90C then you are ok.
You have to tune down the cpu/system fan speeds. I have my fan set to 40% all the way up to 80 degrees on 5900x with NH-D15S. Then it linearly ramps up to 100%. It keeps the system very quiet for general use.
