If the Gesture had a 25% off code, I would buy one. My Leap is getting old.

    • Yup same. Been holding out for a discount on the gesture with headrest for quite sometime now. My squeaky, non-working hydraulic, broken arm rests (which I've removed) Officeworks chair is close to eol.

      • i cant even see the headrest version on their site

also i remember you used be able to customise it with leather etc. is that gone? for the price of a PC it better be customisable lol

  • How do these compare to the HM Aeron? I know this is a fair bit cheaper and that Steelcase is a pretty reputable brand but any first hand experience?

Bought a HM Sayl chair recently after trying a bunch, AMA:
      * Aeron has a mesh seat, supposedly better if you overheat easily
      * Warranty is comparable between the two
      * Aeron has specific sizing (A, B and C). That said, pretty much all higher end chairs are very adjustable and suitable for a broad range of heights, widths and weight.
      * There's much more Herman Miller stuff floating around second hand on FB Marketplace and Gumtree than Steelcase (didn't see 1 in the few weeks I was looking). If you're patient I've seen some Aerons go around the $500-$700 mark. Also plenty of HM Mirra and Celle floating around too.

Other than that, it's pretty personal.

I would highly recommend trying in person if you can before buying, if you're in Sydney there's a Steelcase showroom in Pyrmont. Herman Miller you can try at a few places, I recommend sitbackandrelax in Alexandria (not affiliated, just had really good service there, but didn't end up buying from them as I got a second-hand HM Sayl off Gumtree for $250). Some chairs I thought I'd like I sat in were an instant no, even after adjusting.

IMO this is pretty great value for money, the Think was my 2nd choice after the Gesture out of all the Steelcase chairs when I tried them.

And finally, be prepared to potentially let it go until you find something that works for you. It's impossible to know if a chair will suit you 100% by sitting in it for a while in a showroom, but you've only got one body - it's not worth sitting in pain.

Good luck, hope you snag a bargain!
