Want to Buy a Blender/Mixer/Food Processor for Home

I am looking for a nice blender/mixer/food processor. To be honest, I am not even sure what is the difference between these.

My budget is around $300. Just as an example, I am looking for something like this:

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-1500w-vacuum-blender-pro/…

I currently use 'NutriBullet 900W Blender' but it makes a lot of noise. It is extremely loud. I usually mix food items for food preparation more than making fruit smoothies or shakes etc. So I will mainly use it more for vegetables than fruits. If it is easy to clean, that will be an additional bonus for me.

Any ideas or suggestions will help.

Thank you.

Magimix for food processors - Bamix for Stick Blenders.

    • I completely regret not buying Magimix. I cheaped out and bought kitchenaid - so not the same!

Is Bamix any good? I use Kenwood Tri-Blade Hand Blender - got it from an Ozbdeal many years ago lol

My Bamix is over 20 years old and still going strong.

After I “buried” a couple of Breville food processors I bought a Magimix. Brilliant purchase. It is a great workhorse. I resisted a Vitamix for a long time but they are great as well. The Instantpot is worth a look if you want a multi cooker.

        • Ooo will put Bamix on the list when my Kenwood decides to retire.

Yup, i bought the IP last Black Friday sales. I upgraded from the Breville Fast Slow. Soo much better, the Breville was so bad and leaked!!!

Vitamix and Magimix are definitely my next purchases - hurry up sale!!

Perhaps you can put Le Crueset Cast Iron Round Casserole on the wishlist if you dont already own one hahahahaha

          • @Starlight8: I have one Crueset and one Staub. I got the first as a freebie through my man’s work and the second I got at a really good discount.

I had the Breville Fast/Slow Pro and I gave it to my brother. I kept having the “lid not sealing properly” problem. I, also, wanted the Stainless Steel bowl of the IP.

I have a couple of posts you might fine useful/amusing

            • @try2bhelpful: We speak the same language :P

I'm thinking about this one: https://www.lecreuset.com.au/en_AU/p/cast-iron-round-skillet…

(I purchased the 30cm but it was too heavy so ended up reselling it)

The IP stainless steel bowl is so crap, they need to redesign it. The Breville bowl is a proper SS.

Haha i will reply properly on the 1st thread :P Feel free to update your purchases since 2017 :)

              • @Starlight8: Have you seen this Instantpot? Look at the bowl design.

                https://www.amazon.com.au/Instant-Pot-Duo-Plus-International…

                • @try2bhelpful: Ooo those handles, very handy when its hot.

I just realised, i meant to say i purchased the IP Nonstick bowl and its crap! The Breville Non stick is actually Non-STICK.

                  • @Starlight8: Thanks. I wasn’t considering getting one but I, certainly, won’t now. The only issue I have with any of these cookers is that the smell gets trapped. I wash my sealing rings in the dishwasher, try the “steaming trick” but I just can’t get the smell out. I store my lid upside down so it can air out.

  • I currently use 'NutriBullet 900W Blender' but it makes a lot of noise. It is extremely loud.

You're only meant to use it for about 5-10 seconds.

    • Around 30 -60 s

      • So you nuke your fruit & veg ?

    • Not everyone can block out noise like your partner.

  • Best option is to buy a Borner V slicer Mandolin for $50 for fruits and veggies

Then a $200-$300 blender from Froothie. It's the best combination of utility, price, and storage.

Amongst both of these, there's very little they can't do compared to a food processor.

    • Best option is to buy a Borner V slicer Mandolin for $50 for fruits and veggies

What if you're vegetarian and don't want slices of your fingers in your food?

      • Use the safety attachment of the Borner.

  • I'm waiting for the Vitamix to go on sale… if your willing to wait and spend a bit more i think it will be worthwhile :)

    • I went down that route. Recommend doing the Borner + Froothie combo. Much cheaper!

  • Second hand older model TM31 Thermomix

  • Thank you everyone
