Watches The OzBargain Community Have?

Apologise in advance if this post is in the wrong place it's my first ever forum post.

We have a lot of great watch bargains being posted with people providing sound advice regarding the individual post / product. I feel with the very knowledgeable base of people we have that we could set up a forum for all levels of watch enthusiasts to guide one through the pitfall of this great hobby ie; what's good or bad, what to pay, tips n tricks, where to buy etc.

I really feel this could be worthwhile and easy to maintain. If I'm out of place or such a beast already exists if someone could advise me I would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Stephen

What's wrong with watchuseek and other watch-oriented forums?
    Perfect for what you've described.
I mean I love a good watch bargain post here and there but having what's essentially a watchuseek section on Ozbargain seems a bit backward to me.

    • Haha it was watchuseek that inspired me as I felt the ordinary punter seeking a bargine :-{ ) wouldn't know about or join up wus.
In fact I just started a discussion on wus re ||Ratio watches on special at creationwatches to very little interest but to a bargine hunter some sagely advice from here could help make an informed decision.

Is this a French bargain or something?

Impossible to beat Seiko 5 for price/performance in my opinion, and a vast range of styles over the years. Addictive gateway watch.

    FR235

    • I assume this is the Garmin forerunner 235. I've had this for a while and want to upgrade but it does almost everything I want and is still going strong.

      • Same. Almost 4.5 years on my wrist. Only had to change the strap once because of a lot of carrying toddlers in my arms weakened it.

  • Hobby lol

    • It's a great hobby and doesn't have to cost the earth…like all things it's a matter of scale.:-)

  • Nautilus

    • 5711/1A?

  • I bought a Tissot Chrono XL. sub $500.

Have a Gshock for dirtier environments like camping.

    sounds better suited to Whirlpool

  • Tudor Black Bay - First edition run with the ETA movement and curved dial script, Rose Emblem
1968 Omega Seamaster 300 with Big Triangle Dial - Bought for about $900 now worth around 8k
    MkII Watches Blackwater
Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Tough - The original "Ray Mears" watch not the recent re-issue
Citizen Eco-Drive Super Tough - PMX56-2581 - Black Resin and Fabric/Leather strap version not the full titanium version
1940's Leonidas WWW British Military Watch - My Dad bought in sometime in the late40's
1970's Citizen 8110 Dive watch. Super rough condition should flip it
Casio G-Shock 30th Anniversary DW-5030C-1JR. Payed a couple of Hundred at a Sneaker Swap Meet now worth maybe $600-00?

The only one I would add to my list is the Citizen Eco-Drive Mission Antarctica which are pretty rare to find.

Does a rainbow shine through your window….your list is like the legendary pot of gold…lol
I would bleed having to sell these but I would hang on to the Seamaster, Leonidas and Antarctica…. They would have to pry them from my clutch….lol
      Very nice collection my friend.

      • I mainly just bought before Instagram was a thing and ruined watch buying opportunities, also back in the days when Ebay was a proper second hand shop vibe. The G-Shock is my newest purchase.

I could tell some stories.. I nearly bought a Tudor snowflake Submariner from Chapel Street Pawnbrokers for $850-00, was super rough. I didn't think I had the money but found out the next day when I was back in Perth I had received an very small inheritance and had the money all along :(

The Eco-drive Tough was a Cash Converters pickup $350-00 when the RRP was $1100-00. I've read a story where a Rolex Sub was in a thrift shop as a fake but was real. Can't walk past a chashies or Vinnies now heh.

    Casio F-91W.

  • Wow there sure is an eclectic range of watches that lol own, I notice that the Casio G-Shocks seem to be on more wrists tho.

  • Planet Ocean, Seamaster, F1 & Pilot Chronograph.

Good thing about watches is they retain value and are easy to sell if you need to free up cash.

  • I'm no watch-head, but I have a Tommy Hilfiger. ~$200 from DFO

I like that its smallish and professional looking. I actually really wanted one of the Titan Edge watches from India.

  • A really helpful forum if you are into buying watches.
