The iTunes App Store offers downloads of CanonSGLens for Apple iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad for free. That's the best deal I've seen for this app, which was released two weeks ago. It features detailed lens specifications of all Canon EF and EF-S lenses sold in Singapore and includes an interactive simulator that allows you to compare the field of view of two camera-lens combinations.

Yep, since it was released on December 22nd 2011, it's been free, well at least according to appshopper.

So being free now compared to being free for all of the last two weeks doesn't necessarily make it a better free deal now :S
Anyways, looks like a handy app. Good to hold on to while i'm still deciding which DSLR to buy.
AFAIK, an 'always free' app should go to forum (based on the guidelines). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Guess what guys, there's this fish n chip shop down my local shops that gives FREE salt on your fish and chips! That's the best deal I've seen for salt!

No problem about posting it in the wrong place, things happen mistakes are made.
Its the words you used - "best deal for this app…"
Which infers that since its free and this is the best deal for it, then it must have done something to make it now a best deal. Which we would like everyone else, assume the price as been lowered.
Thats where the issue is, most have assumed you were saying the the price has dropped when it hasn't.
No biggy just explaining why the reactions were as they were.
