Monitor Advice / Cleanest Way to Connect Dual Monitors (Daisy Chain Help)

Hi All,

Firstly moving houses so thinking of investing in a full new WFH set up.

Thinking of buying 2 of these Kogan

I like them because they are USB-C and can power my laptop = less cables.

I wanted to know if there is a way to daisy chain each monitor and also power my computer through the USB-C connector? My computer currently only has 1 USB-C input

Also, my budget is around $400-$550 if anyone has any better monitors or ideas please let me know.

Thanks for your help!

  • I'm no expert, but wouldn't you connect it as follows?

Laptop to monitor #1 via USB-C
Monitor #1 to Monitor #2 via DisplayPort or HDMI

From my reading both DisplayPort and HDMI are both not bidirectional. So I am unsure if Monitor 1 could send signal as it is HDMI/Display Port In not Out

I'd double check that monitor can output video first. The Dell U2419HC/E we use at work can do this.

Thank you for the monitor suggestion - although a bit more pricey - it could be worth getting them.

Definitely worth getting a Dell. Especially if you can claim it as a tax deduction. I have the P2419HC myself

        • Thanks - looks like I'm going to go 2* P2419HC at this stage.

@themaindave: You can save a little bit of money by just getting one P2419HC and getting a P2419H as your second monitor that will be daisychained to the first monitor

@kerfuffle: awesome idea - going to go ahead with this - Thank you so much :)

You can also try a type C dock and some regular monitors. Might be cheaper and easier to expand in the future

  • The Kogan is 2560 and the Dells mentioned above are 1980. If you want higher res, get the Kogan out of those options. I also want 2 of the Kogans but don't know how to connect them to my laptop via a single USB C input.

    • Thanks - just using them for work so went with the Dell.
