It's $100 Cheaper, has a laminated/modern finish unlike the Ikea version and obviously more accessible to those living nearby an Aldi.
Not sure how the quality stacks up but deals direct often has decent looking desks for comparable prices

Actually if you click on the dealsdirect and check the Denver Multidesk with 2 drawers, it seems that that's the model Aldi's selling. And it's cheaper at Aldi. Although the other desks do seem to be okay, though I didn't check the shipping costs.
This isn't cheap really for a desk this small imho.

compared to other desks i see of this size in the discount stores all the time. I have seen desks this size for $69 at regular price. Just because it """""ALDI""""" does not make it special.
I am struggling to find an excuse not to neg this "deal".
I always thought that the idea of OzBargain was to find good prices on comparable products. The fact that this Aldi desk is cheaper than a totally different Ikea desk does not really make it a bargain.
Hell - places the Reject Shop have crappier nastier desks that are cheaper than $99… does that make them more of a bargain than this one?

Discusting! a nightmare to put together. Screws don't fit properly. Laminate extremely thin, as soon as you turn the screw it pops through the Laminate. Nothing sits flush (gaps everywhere). The file draw doesn't fit files (eg: the runners are to far apart). Biggest load of Rubbish ever. Should be taken off the market. Over prices for the rubbish that it is. It looks fine assembled but we're to scared to move it because i'm sure it will just fall to pieces. You've cured us from ever buying flat pack furniture again.. BUYER'S STAY CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT.

The Denver desk is a completely different design to the Aldi one, and it's a different size (150cm vs 120cm) too.

I do want to say that most people living in Oz lack even basic trade skills, but I came across with a few products which were reviewed as difficult to assemble, and it was no brainer for me (and I am not a trades person at all).
It is just my personal experience and it may be different for you.

Not really - the Ikea desk is larger (140cm x 65cm), and has a more solid (thicker) top and side panel

In what way is a cheap laminated plastic foil finish considered more "modern" compared to the Ikea one?
Look - I am not saying it's a bad price if you want a simple desk like that. So, I am not negging but won't vote positive either.
That chair doesn't seem bad either! I wonder if the seat is pvc leather rather than fabric. hmmmm

Surely its either PVC (PolyVinyl Chloride)aka Vinyl OR it is Leather aka 'Dead Animal Skin'
I was wondering since there are at least two versions of the same chair, one has a fake leather seat, the other has a fabric and the fabric wears out very quickly. =)

Get a decent 2nd hand one from Gumtree :)
