You don't need those heavy dumbbells at home. You need 10kg or 12kg one.

    • +1

That would mean you couldn't do any compound movement. I bought a pair of 24kg adjustable DBs for use during the Melbourne lockdowns and though they were good while the gyms were closed, I wished I had something heavier.

Not everyone just does bicep curls.

Or you can get 24Kg for $211 delivered.

    This is a SAD deal…

  • Thanks OP. Been looking out for a set of these for a reasonable price. Interestingly these ones don't have the warning not to use overhead…. hopefully that means this is an improved design from the ones with the red accents.

    • Defo good to know if they can be used overhead

  • I bought some of these in Feb and they were delivered last week; now with the code they are $320 cheaper.

Has anyone had any success of refund or credit on account?

I'm a Kogan First Member as well.

    Cheers

Says it comes with a 14 day change of mind policy, need to notify their support team within 14 days of taking delivery.
But return postage is at your own cost.

    • If you're within the change of mind period I'd say they would refund you the difference to prevent the hassle of you returning and reordering it which isn't in their best interests (this deal includes delivery to you + overheads of receipting used product etc.)

      • Thanks both - I lodged a query with them about credit, but they said as I purchased in February the timescale had expired, they also said that as the special is for a limited time they wouldn't be able to honour a credit.

I replied that as per their CoMP Section 2 the timescale is from delivery, which was 7 days ago; so fully within the right to return it and rebuy at the cheaper price as it is still for sale at $339. Which is what I ended up doing. It will cost me $100 or so for a courier to return, but i'm still $200ish better off.

Very disapointing customer service from Kogan.

        • I'm very surprised by this. Doesn't make sense for them I would have thought - unless they think you're bluffing and won't actually return the product. I would probably give it one last shot to say you're serious about returning- if you could do over the phone might help.

Do the weights and/or clamp mechanism wiggle much during use with these?

I'm leaning towards getting a smallish selection of fixed weight dumbbells from scumtree because I find the fixed dumbbells in gyms much nicer to use. Obviously not the right idea for everyone, I have fairly limited set of exercises and know what limited range of weights I need for that. The only real issue is I'd have to cheap out a bit with the number of intermediate weightings across my progression range to fit my price target but I can live with that.

  • Tempted even though I have a barbell…

  • Just got these and the grip is not comfortable at all, it really digs into the skin.

Nothing like the soft grip that the 24kg one has

    Any solutions?

    • Use them until your hands are calloused.

      • They're calloused, and I've used weights at the gym and barbells as well, but damn, these are on another level, hopefully someone else who's received these can sympathize

        • imo they are a little rough but honestly not that bad. my hands are pretty calloused though from deadlifting.

  • For future buyers:

I've only had them a couple days but they seem really nice, and am overall am very happy with my purchase so far. Easy to adjust and so much faster/secure than my old spinlock plate dumbells.

    PROS:

    • Easy to adjust, feel fancy
    • Reasonable weight intervals
    • Take up minimal space

    CONS:

    • There is a warning not to use overhead: they won't fall out but there is a tiny bit of wiggle to the plates. Doesn't feel unsafe to me, but I wouldn't be dropping/slamming these.
    • Can be a bit tricky to slide back into the holder, but after a bit of practice not really an issue.
    • I didn't notice this warning - where did you see this?
