Roller Shutters Melbourne - Seeking Recommendations on Who to Use

Hey All,

For those in Melbourne, I'm seeking recommendations on who to purchase Roller Shutters through based your experience.

I'm after 10 Electric Roller Shutters range of sizes mostly smaller windows, only received quote from OzRollerShutters so far for about $7.2k including install.

Canstar Has given me an idea how much I could be spending so that has helped.

Keen to see people's recommendations on who you've used.

Cheers

I've recently (Dec/Jan) bought 20 motors to upgrade brand-new Hunter Douglas blinds. I contacted ~10 suppliers, but most of them were not interested. Then, I found DIYblinds in Melbourne and they were really amazing. I decided to upgrade the blinds myself, but they provided the motors (Somfy Sonesse Wirefree) and all the attachments. The HD blinds were a bit different and other supplier told me they were not upgradeable, and that I had to buy new blinds, not only the motors. Tom, from DIYblinds, accepted the challenge and found the right attachments, brackets, and attachments. I still did it by myself, removed the blinds, replaced the old attachments, installed the motors, but I couldn't have done that without them. Two of my blinds were different, smaller, so I had to use different motor and attachments, but again the guys at DIYblinds were extremely helpful.

Motors are expensive ($300/motor), so you are probably starting from $3,000 (motors) plus the blinds themselves, and installation, unless you do that yourself; I had a time off in January and enjoyed doing that.

I also bought a hub and a 16-channel remote control, and integrated the blinds with Google and created routines (e.g., blackout blinds open at 7am and close at 10pm). It was a lot of money, but after three months, I can say I am very happy with the motorised blinds and the system. That's one of the things I wanted to do when I bought my own home.

My blinds are battery powered but I haven't charged them yet. They say batteries should last around 6 months.

Modern shutters pull bs on their 10 year warranty trying to get you to pay call out fees and telemarket the hell out of you

    • I was approaching them next for a quote, will have in mind thank you

  • I had my window roller shutters done by https://www.giamar.com.au. Small local company and I believe pricing is reasonable.

    • Happy with their work?
