(Solved) Extra Xbox Series X, What Do I Do

Long story short, several months ago I ordered an Xbox Series X. My order kept getting pushed back over and over. I finally found one in store, bought it and cancelled my other order. You can see where this is going…

A few weeks later, another Xbox showed up in the post. I didn't know what it was at the time so I couldn't reject the delivery.

I've contacted the supplier a few times now, telling them of the error and requested they arrange a courier to return it. The last time I was told a courier would be arranged in 48 hours and I'd be contacted. I never got contacted about it.

I've checked numerous times and kept confirmation that I've not been charged for the order, but obviously I'm paranoid that will change one day.

It's been over three months now and I'm sick of holding onto the thing. Am I in my rights to sell it? I believe it falls under the Unsolicited Goods legislation but I'm no expert. I technically ordered it at the start, but that order was cancelled before it shipped and I have confirmation to prove that. I also feel like I've tried to do right by the company, contacting them several times but they still haven't picked it up. I don't really want to keep chasing them up.

Opinions?

Edit : and before anyone says anything. If I was to sell, I'm not scalping the thing for a grand on ebay or anything shit like that.

As long as you've got a paper trail of cancelling the order and contacting them to collect, I'd sell it.
Maybe send one more email stating a deadline of when to collect it by and that you will dispose of it otherwise….If they still haven't collected after that date, then sell.

  • How long has it been exactly since you've advised them? I'm a bit confused on that part (three months since you ordered it, received it, or advised them?)

    For NSW;

If you contact the business in writing and advise that you do not want the unsolicited goods/services, the recovery period is reduced to one month.

If the unsolicited goods have not been collected in the recovery period, you can keep the goods without any obligation to pay.

    • I received it at the very start of December.

I contacted them the day after it arrived (didn't open the box until then).

Contacted them a few times that month.

And the last time I contacted them was a month ago.

Post it to me. I'll deal with your issue for you…

Just sell it. At worst you have to repay them but that seems very unlikely.

I wish I had these problems to deal with.

Pretty simple, sell it for the price you paid - you will find a buyer in minutes. Hold onto the cash - if they eventually want payment for it then send them the money.
