  • Can it charge a laptop? It says 45w. Assume it should be able to.

    • The highest output is 30W on the usb C. 45W would be the total across all ports.

    • Check your laptop charger and see what the output says. Match that to the output on this charger.

    • Depends on the laptop, but with usb-c PD the answer is usually "probably, but slowly".

I occasionally use a 30w charger for my macbook pro. As long as I don't hammer it, it keeps it charged during light use (web browsing, youtube, etc).

    • Most non-Apple laptops will only charge off 20V PD.

  • Seems like a good deal for a trip to Japan later this year (If possibiru)

I wonder if this is better or more modern variant of this one? https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/4-port-usb-rapid-travel-charger…

    • +1

That modern variant is likely a cheap chinese chargers which look exactly the same. With Kogan chargers what you pay for is what you get, they aren't good value they are just cheap chinese stuff that kogan has slapped their name on it.

You could get something heaps better with a better chinese brand for slightly more expensive. And my mantra nowadays is if it aint GaN then its not worth purchasing. GaN is so much more compact and none of the "cheap" chinese chargers have it, so they are generally designed well by better known chinese companies.

      • Thanks for the perspective and the heads up on GaN. I'd never heard of that until you mentioned it. Looks like a good alternative for reliable charging.

This one here is better because it has usb pd, which is my own Min req. Gan is nice, but still expensive. Maybe when 2nd gen gan chargers become more affordable, then I can get one or two of them.

      • Cheaper to buy 1 good one than to buy a bunch of cheap ones which some of them are so poorly made that it can damage your devices that it is connected to.

  • Free shipping for kogan member only op no?

    • Free shipping for all.

My last Kogan charger made a horrible high pitch squeel noise as it charged. Might have nothing to do with this one, but the quality concern leads me to not want to touch Kogan again.

    • Would regularly loose power to my iphone, clearly not good power output

  • Pleas do not buy cheap adapter like this it will get overheating

For anyone interested picked up a couple of these from Myer for $10 recently and thus far been pretty good.

Korjo AUS & Europe USB & Power Adaptor : USB 2x2EU

Korjo AUS & UK USB & Power Adaptor : USB 2x2UK

  • I bought one of these a while ago, have had it in use as the main charger for the house; no complaints.
