    Nice find!

Great deal if you're after an automatic. I prefer the eco-drives now that I have more than one watch in rotation, as I can just grab one and go.

Heaps of amazing deals this weekend. I'm waiting for WatchNerd to do up a post with all of them ;)

    • +6

Yes, I have an Eco-drive Promaster from Starbuy, fabulous. Keeps great time, I only adjust it at daylight saving time. Could not go back to automatic.

      • +1

Since getting my satellite wave. My Seiko 5 automatic has been snobbed

Looking to get a eco drive promaster though.

      • +1

the citizen pro diver line is just so perfect, great beaters and at same time neat design to fit well with a shirt.

as the other say, grab an eco drive and go.

but it's cool citizen is pushing some auto too.

I find citizen quality and attention to details incredible, plus we are talking 5 years local warranty vs 3 offered by Seiko.

Id like to get the green auto diver was in offer some time ago, titanium….

      • same, i love the accuracy of eco drive, only time to adjust is for daylight saving.
i have enough autos and electrics get work more often as they are always ready to go.

the orient kamasu are nice though for the money.

      • Well, and any month that doesn't have 31 days. I prefer quartz myself too, eco drive or otherwise.

        • or you get one with perpetual calendar.

          • @xoom: I think they are more expensive and a more complex movement. I'm not sure you'd find that in a diver. I don't mind changing the date every now and then - it's an opportunity to keep watches accurate too.

I'm fond of casio digitals too - no date issues there :)

That's a great deal if you like that sorta watch.

  • +2

    Thank you, purchased!

  • +2

Ouch, my poor wallet has been hit hard this week!

    • Yep, shocker of a week! :)

  • Nice, only thing I dislike is 42mm a bit small for me.

    • +5

      a bit small for me.

      That's what she said.

      • :Well, the Seiko Samurai is 43.8mm that suit me well :P

      • Well, I thought that's what he said.

        • +1

          think sexual innuendo.

  • +2

I also prefer these over the SKX's….the Black/Rubber NY0085 is also part of the sale for $229 (fighting the urge to buy it)

  • +1

This is a good buy… would get it if I didn't have another watch coming next week

  • +4

I really need to stop visiting this site :p

    • You know you love this place. You will keep coming back.

  • +3

Bezel may not perfectly align to indices: ✓

    Great feature!

    • Don't you all look for this feature in every watch?

Like who needs perpetual calendars. Give me not perfectly aligned indices.

    • Yeah, I'm not sure I'd give mineral glass a tick as well. Poor choice of the bullet symbol for bullet points I guess. Great watch nevertheless, if I didn't already have a couple of divers I'd snap this one up at that price. OTOH… it's only $199… And Starbuy who are excellent sellers…

    • have 3 Eco-Drives, 2 of them divers and everything is perfectly built and assembled in all of them,

all 3 of them have the mineral glass and neither of the 3 got any scratch.

never fell any of them, but used to do sport activity, travel and manual works for past 2 years.

personally in the Eco-Drive price range I prefer the warranty, build quality than the sapphire.

as a note my understanding is sapphire is not the best for divers since will not scratch but will break easier than mineral

  • Where can I go to educate myself as to what is considered a good watch?

I've been meaning to get myself a more sophisticated watch. I'm currently using a smart watch.

Watchuseek is a huge forum for watch geeks. I actually avoid it though, as I don't want to go down the expensive rabbit hole! Just browse Starbuy, find something that looks good, then check out YouTube for reviews. You'll learn a heap in no time.

If the brand has ever been on Kickstarter - Avoid

    • +1

Go to YouTube and look up the channel "just one more watch". Channel is run by a top bloke named Jody, who specialises in the best watches you can get for little money.

My opinion is if you're after an affordable, very decent watch, but not sure if watches are for you, try the Casio Edifice range. Plenty of styles to choose from, nothing too complicated (simple reliable quartz), can swim with them and there are heaps for around $100-$150.

  • +1

Well, I couldn't help myself. I came close to buying the Seiko Prospex Solar SNE543J deal a week ago, but really wanted a numbered bezel. So I grabbed the Seiko Prospex Solar SNE498P just now. Pretty happy.

Now, time for a break from watch purchases!

  • +1

Please stop me from buying this. Tell me why I shouldnt buy it. HELP!

    • +4

You need to buy it. And you need to buy it right now.

      • Pulled this trigger. Ugh. I hate this website :p

    • +4

The 8 o'clock crown. It's not much but it's something, and a little weird.

      • +1

must be for left landed wearers

  • Can anyone comment how this fits for people with smaller wrists? Around 6.25 inches :(

    • +1

A watch with these dimensions (42mm case diameter, 12 mm thick) should suit you just fine. My wrists are roughly the same size as yours and I wear a Citizen BN0150-28E (which has very similar dimensions to the NY0086-83L) quite comfortably.

The only aspect I can't give an opinion on is the bracelet. Some watch brands have metal bracelets that simply cannot be adjusted small enough to suit narrow wrists (I'm looking at you, Invicta!). I've never bought a Citizen watch with a metal bracelet before but if their sizing is anything like Seiko (and I imagine they would be very similar) I doubt it will be a problem.

      • +1

        For essentially the same watch,
        https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-automatic-ny0085-19e/
Joey S titled his review Finally a Dive watch for small wrists. He has a 6.4" wrist.

He was raving that at $317 it was a bargain, obvs when not on sale. However, this ^^^ deal is better IMO as you can replace the steel bracelet with a $5 silicone band that's superior to the "hard" rubber Citizen used on the 19e variant.
        Plus it's $30 less and a Pepsi so a no-brainer for me.

  • +5

    Good price.
I just can't get over the 12 o'clock underwear index.

    • Hahahaha. I can't not see it now!

    • the tidy whities cannot be unseen.

    • thanks you just ruined my watch :p

  • -2

    Mineral glass, price checks out.

  • This is a nice watch well done. The weekend flash sale has really good buys this week.

  • Does anyone know the size of the strap? Thanks

  • +4

    https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-gmt-bj7110-89e/
Probably a better choice for most but double the price.

    • +2

The higher price is somewhat justified as that's got sapphire crystal glass and titanium.

      • That's exactly right. Also GMT which is a bonus

    • God damn that’s a good looking watch.

    • -1

Marginally less ugly than the original post, but still fugly.

      • I actually don't like either one. I'm a Seiko sumo fan but still good value for money

        • For sure, I voted the deal up based on a big discount even though it's ugly as hell.

@t3chshopper: Why not learn to read and understand

              • @MuddyClear: Hahaha

              • @MuddyClear: why not learn to read and understand why a watch that can be submerge up to 200 metres of water exists?

I get that your iphone 12 pro can be submerged up to 6 metres of water for 30 minutes and that might be good enough for you but there are others that need more than than.

So until your precious iphone or any phone can do what people intend to do with such a watch in the post. Then i suggest you move along with what is a useless comment to this thread.

                • @xoom: Learn to read. It’s an iPhone 12 Pro MAX!

                  • @MuddyClear: so which one of us has reading comprehension issues? the pro models. that includes all pro model. yes that means Max included.

                    https://pocketnow.com/is-the-new-iphone-12-waterproof

Is the iPhone 12 Pro series waterproof?
The answer in one word is Yes. The iPhone 12 Pro as well as the iPhone 12 Pro Max are waterproof. Similar to the iPhone 12 series, the Pro models are rated IP68 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529.

      • +2

So which phone can be submerged up to 200 meters of water. I'm buying it right now. Oh wait there isn't one.

        • -1

Why do you need to know the exact time when you’re submerged 200m of water?

          iPhone 12 Pro MAX

@MuddyClear: Really now?! Oops guess not.

The iPhone 12 series, the Pro models are rated IP68 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529.

Why do you need to know the exact time when you’re submerged 200m of water?

When youre diving you need to know how long you been down. Oh you know so you don't run out of air. And you don't surface too quickly. But what would I know. I'm sure there's diving experts that would know better.

            • @xoom:

I'm sure there's diving experts that would know better.

fyi, those experts don’t wear these type of watches for diving!

              • @MuddyClear:

experts dont wear these type of watches for diving.

and yet you where suggesting people just use their phone to tell the time when there are situations where a phone will simply not do.

I will be sure to tell my sisters boyfriend who is a defence contractor to not wear a watch. he can bring his phone into his office despite the fact their phones are kept away from them while they are in their place of work due to security and privacy concerns.

                • @xoom:

and yet you where suggesting people just use their phone to tell the time

Newsflash that’s what people are doing!

                  • @MuddyClear: And what of the rest of my statement where sometimes there are situations where people cannot have their phone to tell them what time it is.

yes lets conveniently ignore those people and tell them what idiots they are for having a watch when a phone tells time.

no one is arguing that a phone cannot tell you what time it is. all what we are saying is not in everyones situation one can have their phone on them so they can know what time it is.

while you are it. feel free to go to every watch forum and post much of the same stuff you have posted here that why buy a watch when your phone tells the time.

      • Be sure to tell the life guard at the public pool where children are swimming. what you need a watch for? You got a phone. That tells the time.

make sure you are within earshot of parents when you say this to the lifeguard.

        • I’m a life guard and I don’t wear a damn watch!

  • I love Starbuy having bought many times from them before. Great value, great service, they even have a walk in store at Syd CBD. I too had been looking for an SKX alternative (not u happy with Seiko, I just wanted a diff but non-Chinese brand) … the thing that was a deal breaker for me here with this Citizen was its mineral glass - yes I’ve had my other Citizen’s mineral glass face scratched. Sapphire glass in my experience is pretty much scratch resistant.
So after much searching I discovered Seiko’s distant brother Orient and had the pleasure of scoring just before Xmas the rubber strapped version of their new Kamasu from these guys in HK:

    https://dutyfreeislandshop.com/en/orient-ra-aa0002l19b-ra-aa…

I had previously held out on Orient’s Mako (basically same family of 42mm diver screw crown specs) because it too was mineral glass only, but the Kamasu fixed this. I couldn’t be happier with my Kamasu.

    • +1

I have the green kamasu with metal bracelet, very nice watches for the money if you want an auto …..problem is red is sold out, green is sold out in may places, and the black and blue have gone up a few dollars, hope it was just an inventory thing and they come up again for deal with restock.

    • +1

damn that blue looks mighty fine.

    • yes it is
