iPhone 12 Pro Max - Magnetic Lightning Cable OR Magsafe Charger?

Hi All,

Recently upgraded to an iPhone 12 Pro Max (from an Android device). Just needed some help in finding a charging solution that's fairly low-mid range in cost. The two options I'm contemplating are:

Option A) Magnetic lightning charging cable - around $10 on eBay.

Option B) Magsafe wireless charging (with this I'd have to also buy a Magsafe compatible phone case, and a 20W wall charger with USB-C port) - around $90 ($20 for case, $55 for Magsafe charger, $15 for wall charger).

From the online research, some of the reviews have mentioned that magnetic cables are not durable and break after a short period. And on the other side, Magsafe charger charges at slow speed (I'm not fussed about this that much).

Wanted to seek your thoughts and which charging solution to go for.

    Doesn't it come with cables and a charger in the box or is that no longer included due to courage?

      iPhone 12 Range doesn't come with a charger in the box anymore (just the cable), due to "environmental impacts".

        Apple have reduced their shipping carbon footprint by over a 3rd after doing this. May even be more.

      It came with a UBS-C to lightning cable for charging in the box. No earphones or wall charger included in box.

    What's the benefit of a magnetic charging cable?

    USB-C to lightning is the only connection that allows fast charging on iPhone, you'll miss that moving to USB-A to lightning when it takes you twice as long to charge your phone.

    I recently bought a wireless apple magsafe charger and it is for the TIP, takes about a good month to get to 30% would not recommend and I always recommend apple products.

      I suggest yours is faulty. My genuine MagSafe charger charges my iPhone 12 Pro at about the same rate as plugging in via lightning.

        Good to know will return it. Out of curiosity do I need to have one of those magnet cases for it to be better? I just put the phone straight onto it (I have no case on my iPhone XR)

    I have a 12 Pro and MagSafe charger. Works great.

    I would not spend ~$2k on a phone and then charge it with a $10 aftermarket adaptor from eBay.

      Awesome, yeah I was leaning towards getting a genuine Magsafe charger. What's a good case to get along with it?

    You spent a lot on your 12 Pro Max. In for a penny, in for a pound, you may as well get the latest and greatest MagSafe charger. Actually maybe it's more like in a for a pound, in for a penny.

    I use a MagSafe holder in my car for mine, but just use the same Samsung leather wireless charger I’ve had for a few years, it kept my 11 pro at 100% after 14 months, I charge overnight, the thing will last 2 days easily anyway lol.

    Those whinging about prices learn how to get a bargain, got my 12 pro max 256gb for $1500 cash yesterday, sealed brand new. Got a 128gb week before new for $1400 flipped it for $1700 lol.
    No need to pay retail.

        Gumtree, have bought and sold 50 plus iPhones/iPads never had a problem.
        Will wait for the negative comments lol.
