How Long Is Too Long for a Small Appliance Repair?

Sent off a small convection oven for a repair almost 4 weeks ago now. Even returning the item back to them was a headache in itself…. I have been contacting them every week but all they are saying is they have no information available.

What are my rights as a consumer?

Locally? Depending on the type of appliance, some are more complex than others. A convection oven is complex, but not as complex as, for example, a camera. Still, I would say up to 4 weeks. Doesn't you warranty state anything about that?

    • No, warranty doesn't state anything about it. Its a small Air Fryer oven. As far as I am aware, it is locally. But again, they have not provided any information other that 'we will find out'. But I never receive a response them until the following week when I ask about it. Then it's same response… "I'll find out from the repairer".

Till parts are available, I had issue with my dyson fan, they said it will take about six months, due to shortage of parts. So i returned it to the retailer, they were happy.

Didn't think it was economically viable to repair small appliances these days.

I thought you punted them in to the trash can and purchased a replacement.

    • unless it was small but expensive and under warranty. But even then I agree….replacement sounds more apt.

  • Did you go back to the retailer or call a service centre? If it's at a service centre ask when it will be fixed as you would like it back if it's not fixed as you want to take it back to the retailer to get a replacement or refund.

  • Who was the retailer?
