  • Is this game any good?

    • Yes and No. If you are comparing it to Like a Dragon. It's not as good. It's like Yakuza crossed with a murderer mystery. It's very on rails Vs the rest of the series. Graphics are pretty awesome but the trademark humour isn't there and it gets tedious. But the story is good.

      • +1

$49 is not bad but not sure how long the game play is.

      • Yeah i'm a huge Yakuza fan, have all the games, and i got bored with Judgment. It's definitely a good game, but too grounded and not as charming as the Yakuza games.

        • I got bored… Well frustrated is more accurate… If you don't expect Yakuza and you realise it's more Until Dawn going into it you should enjoy it.

    • its a 40-hour crime thriller,if you like that, yes

    • If you like Yakuza ie dated repetitive gameplay and extremely drawn out story.

      • Its starts off like Yakuza but then the fights stop. It's got a decent story but it's a Horror/Thriller

  • if i have the ps4 version of the game, can i get a free upgrade or no?

edit: looks like no - what a shame, i wouldn't have minded playing through the game again at 60 fps.

    • Damn, would be nice if we can get free upgrade…

  • From what I read, the PS4 version was already running at 60fps on the PS5 so I was going to settle for that but being able to get the PS5 version and all the DLC for a negligible price difference, it's hard to say no to this.

    • +2

No, it doesn't the game has a target framerate of 30fps on PS4 and the Pro but hits a locked 30fps on PS5 via backwards compatibility. The game also only offers a single graphics display mode of 1080p. The PS5 remaster runs at 4K 60fps. A shame that they didn't just patch the PS4 game to run at an unlocked framerate at least.

      • Some (profanity) lied to me then

  • Nice, not my kind of game usually but worth a punt at that price.

  • Did they replace the original character at some point?

    • They replaced one of the main Yakuza bosses in the game because the actor was arrested for cocaine possession of something. Drug offences are a career killer in Japan apparently.

      • +1

It’s a game about Yakuza and the actor got busted for drug possession. They should promote him but not sack him.

        • Probably could get away with it if he says he was doing it to immerse himself in the role like Jared Leto doing all sorts of sexual harassment but praised for being "in character" for Joker.

  • I've just started getting into Yakuza, playing Kiwami 2 right now. I'll look forward to this. Thanks OP!

  • Good to know we can always buy PS5 games. Don't know about those PS5 consoles though!
