Pretty affordable USB Mics
Blue Yeti Nano (Shadow Grey)

Some people prefer the Rode Mini over the Yeti Nano for singing and streaming. Here's a sound comparison.
An XLR setup will be better but that's pretty intimidating for most people.

Check out gillyt's post on Blue Yetis if you're looking to pay a bit more for functionality.

The Razer one was $80 a few days ago on Amazon.
    That better value.

    • Dunno why you're being downvoted. $80 for the Razer vs $116 for the Rode, and both mics are of almost identical function. The value is actually with the Razer on that one.

I'm guessing it's because of the audio quality and reliability which razer products aren't known for.
I've found some sound comparisons for anyone interested, Razer Seiren X Blue Yeti Nano Rode NT-USB Mini
Seiren X also has lower sound pressure levels which is why it gets pretty bad audio distortion when there's music involved.

      • +2

Rode has better rep, also the razor deal was a US import (takes a long time & hard to return)

        • +1

          Longer to return, not harder.

    • +2

For Zoom, Teams, Razer Seiren X is good value.

    • Agree, this product is just making use of the NT and NT-USB's reputation to push units. It falls over in pretty much any sound comparison you throw it into (much like the Blue Yeti Nano, which is also crap value).

Hell, Rode have had sales on Amazon with the NT-USB almost at this price, so it's hard to even call this a deal.

Support an Aussie company and choose the Rode

    • +7

They’re not just an Aussie company, Røde actually make a lot of their products in Australia.

Great mic, top price. Better for music than the others.

Bought a Rode NT-USB, got angry while moving, punched it a couple times for no reason, it broke. 5/7 great sound quality though.

+1 Bought it like $149 in November. I'm happy what I paid for.

I wouldn't say xlr is intimidating, rather much more expensive as you have to buy a DAC as well.

    • +3

It depends on what you're going for. Most people think they need expensive audio interfaces like focusrite scarletts etc.
When a Behringer UMC22 + Any budget dynamic mic set (boom arm, pop filter, mic, xlr cable) isn't much more expensive (if not cheaper) and offers significantly better audio…

      • +1

True, but if all you want is a single mic for a specific reason then even a umc22 at $75 plus the rest is more than a usb condenser.

      • would you say the behringer xm8500 + umc22 would do well or even better than these mics?

        • +1

Longer term I'd bother with the UMC202HD, in case you wish to upgrade in the future. That combo is $130 on Amazon via their UK marketplace store.

        • +1

It would definitely do better than these mics in most scenarios (aside from maybe singing).
I would say that it's particularly better if you're using it for calls, or anything that just requires you to speak casually since it picks up a lot less ambient noise.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed the Rode!
