T7 would be better
It’ll be fine, but normal disclaimer that you can’t use external drives with PS5 games applies, only PS4 title. T7 will be better performance as noted however.
So what’s the solution for ps5?
Don’t believe there is one yet.
They have an internal NVMe slot that is disabled at this point.
T7 is only better performance if USB Type C connection on PC/Laptop.
The PS5 has 10Gbps ports that should basically allow the T7 to max out its 1050MB/s peak speeds. The T5 is roughly half of that so doesn’t come close to maxing out the interface. So the T7 should have benefits, although it may not translate into anything overly tangible in game.
I've used both the T7 and T5 for PS4 games storage on my PS5, and I find they are both very comparable in speed. The T7 doesn't feel that much faster despite the higher theoretical ceiling — and it's also worth noting that it tends to slow down when you do large data transfers. Both T5 and T7 are nowhere near as fast as the PS5's internal drive, of course, but waaaay faster than a portable HDD.
The T5 is more than good enough for playing PS4 games, so I'd recommend that over the more expensive T7. Save yourself some money.

It's nice to have the extra space for PS4 games, and save the internal space for the PS5 games. Would recommend.

Drive inside this is an msata drive if you are looking for one to shuck for an old laptop or embedded pc like a raspi alternative.
