I quite literally did a double-take look at these today - I couldn't believe my eyes. Half a dozen of them in stock (at ~2.00pm 30Dec11) in a choice of two "bundle" configurations:
Contour HD with bicycle/motorcycle mount - $174.00 (normally $299 cam + $49 mount)
Contour HD with surf/wake boardmount = $174.00 (normally $299 cam + $69 mount)
This was the Alexandria, NSW store but ring around as other stores may also be dumping-out this superseded model.
I think it was the 720p versions that Amazon US was selling for $79? The base model 1080p unit is now USD139.95 (refer http://www.amazon.com/Contour-1300-ContourHD-Helmet-Camera/d…).
Either way, no go at Greensborough HN.
The camera with the surfboard/wakeboard mount, wouldnt come with or be waterproof?
Thoroughly recommend these, I have the Contour GPS version and use it on VicDrift events and snow trips… some awesome footage thanks to the wide-angle lens. Because these are smaller cylinder shape, they fit nicely compared to the GoPros. We got an iPhone or iPod integration thingy which gives a live preview too… This thing's a bargain for this price. The new GoPro cam's have taken things up a notch though (I have the previous gen & the Contours) - I think they're doing 120fps @ 720p now?
EDIT: they're not.
WVGA: 848×480, 120FPS + 60FPS
The live preview is great addition to the newer models. Nothing worse than hours of footage of not much at all.
These are amazing, stick it on your head during a drunk night and record your adventures!

just watched a vid their not as good as gopro but their less than half the price and quality is still more than watchable!

No reason you can't use it, just find something to attach it to, get a custom mount if you have to.
I hate these things. Potential cyclist video evidence used for litigation in court after I ram my car with them. Need a way to disable these things or go stealthy before I cause carnage.

Guessing similar to this (some form of handlebar mount)

I was looking through http://contour.com/products/accessories -> Bike, Auto & Motocross Tab and there is so many mounts.
I believe the Contour HD comes with the Goggle Mount and Flat Surface Mount.
Not sure exactly what mount is included with the configuration…

Saw these for $79 on US Amazon, it's a shame in Australia we have to put up with inflated prices. I'm off to Harvey Norman Greensborough to see if they are on sale there, but as they are individual franchises I wont hold my breath.
I've got a GoPro Hero, but one of these for $174 & mount isn't too bad. Are these the ones that can take GPS module?
