Hopefully the OS is installed on the SSD

      • OS was on the SSD for me. I would have preferred no second HDD and a larger battery.

    • This configuration is intentional, OS goes on small drive and large files / videos / games on larger (slower) drive.

Means boot time is almost instant but you still get plenty of storage

Got this on Black Friday for about the same price, loving it. Build quality is excellent. Only downside for me is the battery life. Plays everything I want decently, but you shouldn't expect to push 120FPS on the latest AAA titles. I have a desktop for that anyway.

what about the screen? I think color reproduction on those 120Hz 250nit panels wasn't good? Dell used them on their G3 SKU's as well

      • Fine for gaming but I wouldn't want to be doing much content creation or photo editing.

        • thank you, that's what I thought. I was trying to get a new laptop around Father's day last year, went through a few models, I wanted something that could do gaming, but gaming wasn't the primary use case, needed it for photo editing too

I think this model was also good price back then and I think screen colors was why I skipped it.

ended up getting a Dell Inspiron 7590 for $900. it only has GTX1650 but a good 300nit 60Hz color accurate panel, then again, gaming is a bonus really in my case (although I ended up doing a lot of it haha)

    • Does yours have the 1650Ti? Is there that much difference between it and the 1660Ti for light gaming?
I'm thinking of racing games like Dirt Rally 2, MXGP2.

I'm keen to get a cheap laptop for portability and put most of the money into a really good desktop gaming pc.

      • Yeah mine is a 1650Ti, it works well enough for my needs.
1660Ti is a fairly large jump up from 1650Ti. But I haven't seen a 1660Ti laptop under $1350, so it would depend on your budget.

According to notebookcheck it looks like about a 50% increase in framerate on DiRT Rally 2.0.

  • I wish the screen on this was a bit better. Not suitable if you need decent colour accuracy - 63% sRGB, 45% NTSC, 47% AdobeRGB

  • Bought it. Thanks OP.

Too good of a deal to pass up!

    • I don't think its eligible for Cashback dou because its thru the student store

  • any discounts for the SFF machines?
