Swimming Pool Safety Latch and Self Closing Hinges

There are two popular makes (1) MagnaLatch Top Pull Series 3 and TruClose TCA1 Series 3 Hinges @ Bunnings $89.00 (2) G8Safe (Safetech) Mega Value Pool Gate Latch Kit @ Bunnings $69.98.

G8Safe had a recall in 2018 - assume its OK now otherwise Bunnings will not be selling them.

Has anyone has experience and any preference with Magnalatch and G8Safe?

Is a Coil Spring Gate Closer eg Pinnacle https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-360mm-galvanised-coil-g… acceptable by NSW Councils? It should as long it is "Self-Closing"?

    Magnalatch everyday IMO, standard pool gate hinges are self closing, no secondary spring required.

    What did they say when you asked them?

    Its also only about $10 cheaper, so why bother risking it for $10 saving.

    its not whether it's acceptable to the council
    it's more can you live with yourself if u got a cheap one and a kid opens it, gets in and drowns….

    I've used both and IMO Magnalatch is the best. The closing mechanism for Magnalatch is much smoother and safer when compared to the G8.

    Bit late to the party, but built a pool fence last year and used Magnalatch for both of the gates. Had positive experiences with them. Easy to install and latched smoothly.
