So for some context, my school is basically doing it the traditional way. No byod, we use books, textbooks and sheets. Education like how i would assume many of you older folks did it.
This was all well and true, until covid has come along and pushed everything to become technological. Yes, this is great, to an extent…. but the impacts of this technological revolution is bad. Since we have went semi technological, eg there is now use of google classroom, and other tech things such as editing documents together, teachers are now using this in everyday learning now we are back to normal classroom. Yes, but one issue, i don't have any mobile data and if you recall we are not a school that uses laptops and hence there is no wifi or laptops.
Back then, teachers would say when we needed to do a digital task books us in a 'computer room'. Now because of covid, all the kids have laptops so now teachers (being their lazy self, some of them at least) dont do that, and they tell the kids to bring their own laptop to school and use it. I'm sitting there being awkward! Ok, another example, teacher is too lazy (idk actually know why they do this, this is mostly for like if we need only a tiny bit of that reading only) to print a reading material say, they put it on google classroom and tell everyone to use their phone to access it. I'm sitting there being like… i dont have data. so you can see how this continues… kahoots, group work, digital vesions of textbook, feedback form, answers to math questions… (they give question and say check classrooom for solutions).
But what's crazy is people dont understand when i say "i dont have data" they give me the surprised pikachu look and be like 'what?..' they would understand more if i said i didnt have a phone… i reckon. This is mainly because everyone has data. What am i on right now? $30 vodafone prepaid. There, knew you were gonna ask that question. caught you out.
anyways thanks for reading my rant, cheerss
