State of play announced that the ps5 version of crash bandicoot 4 will be free for ps4 version owners.

The ps5 version has enhanced audio, controls, frame rates, and resolution.

Upgrade and crossover from PS4

Already own the PS4 version of the game? We’ve got you covered. Owners of both the digital and physical versions of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time can upgrade from the PS4 to the enhanced PS5 version at no additional cost.* PS4 digital owners can navigate to the PS5 version of the game at PlayStation Store and download it at no cost (except in Japan). PS4 disc owners must insert their disc into their PS5 and navigate to the PlayStation store to download the PS5 version at no cost (except in Japan)*. Internet connection is required to upgrade.

On top of that, you’ll be able to transfer your save data from PS4 to PS5 so you can start right where you left off. To do so, follow these steps:

Before starting confirm you have an internet connection and you are logged into your PS account.
On your PS4 navigate to the “Select a Save Slot” screen.
Select the slot with data you want to transfer to your PS5.
Use your controller to select Upload to cloud.
You will get a prompt to confirm the upload, select Upload to Cloud.
You will get a prompt indicating the upload was successful, click continue to return to the game.
On your PS5 navigate to the “Select a Save Slot” screen.
Select the slot you want to save your PS4 data to.
Use your controller to select Download Cloud Save.
You will get a prompt to confirm the download, select Download Cloud Save.
You will get a prompt to enter your initials, enter your initials and select Next.
You will get a prompt to select a playstyle, select Modern or Retro.
You will get a prompt that the download was successful, select continue to return to the game.

    What's the different between free upgrade to the ps5 version and getting the ps5 version for free? They just let you download the ps5 version of the game into your ps5. Which would be the same as if you got the game for free or upgrade. Same game files and data.

      You really need to get your news from the actual sources rather than clickbait blogs.

      There's no free PS5 version. You can upgrade your existing PS4 version to the PS5 version (if you already own it on PS4). No one gets a free Crash 4 game.

      The key difference is cost. The free upgrade is worthless unless you buy the PS4 version. This applies to both digital & physical copies.

      If you buy a new car and it comes advertised with free tinted windows you could say the tinted windows were free. But technically it wasn't free as you had to buy the car to get the free item/upgrade.

  Wording needs some work.

  Coming on March 12, 2021 to PlayStation 5, players will be able to buy the game fresh or upgrade PS4 copies of the game.

  This is not free, its just an upgrade like every other ps4 / ps5 cross over game. basically it an upgrade, else you would count this free deal for all the other games, like spirderman miles morales, fifa, call of duty. silly post is just silly.

    Theres more ps4 games without an update than ones that there is. Thats why the ones that have the free upgrade is a deal

      Sorry not a deal. It's gaming News, like when NVIDIA shield older models got free upgrade to Dolby Atmos sound support.

      No one posted FREE DOLBY ATMOS for old model NVIDIA shield owners………
