Bottled water is the new snake oil. How could anyone pay $1 - $2 for a bottle of filtered tap water is beyond me.
I much prefer my kids to drink coconut water over any soft drinks and lucky for me my kids love it.
Does the bottle have any promises about health benefits on its label? None that I can see.
It's just coconut water. Tastes good to some of us. It's less healthy than plain water but not as bad as soft drinks. That's all
Ingredients: 100% pure coconut water
So not full of sugar but has sugars. Like basically anything natural that’s not pure water.
definitely healthier than a coke !
What part of "Pure natural coconut water" is not clear to you…
I would think the pure part? As coconut water is anything but clear, the pure ones anyway.
No one said anything about clear liquid tho…
Better stop eating fruit in that case.
Breaking news, fruit has sugar in it
Sugar (of fruits) if consumed in original form then it helps body.
However if juice (commercial) is made out of it, changed form of sugar is sort of as bad as soft drink sugar.
You will soon see that 5 star rating of bottled juice be updated with 2 star.
The sugar in fruit is called fructose, and it necessarily isn't healthier. The reason why fruit in its raw state is considered 'healthy' is because it contains other beneficial nutrients such as fibre, vitamins and minerals.
If you have a balanced diet and control the amount of fruit you eat, then yes, it can be a healthy food. The problem with juice is that the pulp, and skin is where the majority of where the nutrition is.
Obviously, juice has to be 'runny/thin' otherwise it will be a puree so they strain the pulp, which is made of skins and fibre. What's left is a juice mostly made up of sugar (fructose) still. The sugar (fructose) will not change to another sugar.
Stuff like apple juice and apple juice have high sugar levels (if pure juice) and low nutrients because of this. However, because coconut water (not the pulp or flesh) is low in sugar as well as being a thin liquid, it can be a 'healthier" option. However in the end of the day, it is all about scale and balancing.
TLDR : The specific name of sugar in fruits is called fructose, and it will not change to an "unhealthy" sugar if it is processed or in a commercial setting as all sugars are bad for you regardless of the types in large amounts.
Matching Coles @ $2.50 each.
Woolies $3.50 each this week instead of the usual $5.
Thanks updated OP
Does anyone know of a good sugar free alternative?
Water? :p
Tap water. Don't pay for $2.50 bottled water alternatives.
@whooah1979: I know God forbid they try and keep the water clean and help keep you keep your teeth, I am guessing you are someone who has never left Australia . We have great tap water in Australia people buying bottled water here is very unecessary but then again people now days are easier to fool then ever before .
@Holyhotdog: Some people prefer💧without the taste and smell of chlorine.
@whooah1979: Get a water filter then..
@stockastics: Or buy bottled 💧.
You mean from the toilet? (Quote from Idiocracy)
You can use it for cooking.
Unsweetened Almond milk is like 0.3g of sugar per 250ml serving. Similar electrolytes except half the potassium, and almond milk is also high in vitamin e. Plus it goes on sale for $1.50 or liter.
FWIW, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki has an interesting podcast episode with Dr Nick Fuller regarding different milk varieties.
Isn't it 90% water?
Quick google search finds
Almond milk 98% water
Coconut water 94% water
Milk 87% water
Coke 89% water
Diet Coke 99% water
This coconut water actually tastes like a bit of vanilla flavour, i will pass this…
i will pass this…
not through your kidneys, I'm gathering
Thanks OP
0% cashback rip, will still buy though :P
?? how come, when
Soft drinks or bottled fruit juice or coconut water? Some has extra sugar while others have modified Natural sugar ( which is equivalently bad )
ty op
Damn, Amazon sold out :(
I can see it available in Amazon still. Try again
Looks like I missed out :(
Yeah sorry about that mate. It was available when I commented.
@polarq: All good. Thanks anyway.
i just ordered from amazon, try again
We buy this stuff by the pallet load, almost literally.
It is usually sold out when it goes for $2.50 at Coles/Woolies but we just drive around and get rain checks from a dozen stores and come back when they have stock again the following week.
So much packaging, I feel bad about that.
This is our go to Coconut water at $2.50. Otherwise we get the Coles branded for $3.20. We don’t like the other brands which are not to our taste.
Do you know if these cartons can be recycled?
have you tried the aldi ones at $3.00? i quite like those better than the coles ones
Yeah, but cocobella is still better.
@[Deactivated]: How's the Watermelon+Mint , and Choc cocobellas?
@capslock janitor: Absolutely revolting, can't stand the stuff.
Even the thought of that shit touching my lips makes me want to puke.
I like Aldi stuff so I will give it a try. The problem with Aldi is that there isn't one near me.
Woolies brand is $2.50 every day, worth it imo til Cocobella goes on sale every other week!:)
The last time I drank this it was watery af very diluted. Bloody coca cola
Coconut water is natural so will change according to many different factors.
lol like what packaging, its diluted mate . its factory made not sourced from a tree
What are you on about? Coconut water comes from coconuts.
@Flying Ace: And put into bottle you think it's processed in huge vats mate
pretty sure there is a rip off somewhere in the chain. It needs 4 coconuts to make a liter… do you think a guy is gonna climb a tree to fill only one bottle? How many bottles are sold every day in all the shops across Australia? :)
@r3b00t: Lol water
If you drink enough water from natural coconuts, from different places, and from different seasons, you'll realize that they all vary a lot in flavour/strength.
I'm not associated with CocaCola so can't certify/reject if they've ever diluted it. But saying a company is tampering a product judging purely by taste of one bottle is a foolish thing.
I personally avoid soft drinks and consequently don't like CocaCola (the company) but judgements of this kind are a far stretch.
why is it foolish? these are made in batches and quality control is a thing and changes. Its watery. if you drink watery coke wouldn't you know ?
Coke is made in a lab or processing plant with a standard recipe. So any change in flavour would be suspicious.
Coconut water is made by nature in individual palm trees and each palm tree has a slightly different recipe based on the variety of palm tree, geographical area where it grows, soil, weather, etc. Natural variability exists, and ignoring that fact seems a bit foolish
@superveggies: unless it's from the same source I don't think the taste changes and I have drunk coconut water all my life. Yes, there are variety of tress and location. but you can differentiate between watery af and good coconut water. This is diluted and does not taste like natural coconut water.
@life is suffering: Oh dear
@superveggies: lol waht
@life is suffering: fruits grown on the same farm taste different depending on season/ weather, so why wouldn't coconuts?
@supaderp: not drastically like this. I have huge coconut farms in S asia
@whooah1979: Huge hahha
Raw C is $2.50 at my local Woolies. Personally I prefer woolworths brand/Raw C to cocobella which seems to taste sweeter and have a lot more sugar in it.
Excatly this cocobella is rubbish
Is coconut water the new snake oil?
