The entertainment book is rubbish now

    • Yeh half the restaurants would have closed by now

      • Does anyone care ? The big 2 is gift cards and 2nd junk food vouchers :)
But the gift cards unfortunately can't compete with like the $26 RACQ program and others .

popsiee It is digital only now have you perused the book to see what is really there? you have no need to use the junk food offers to get value from this book.

"Yeh half the restaurants would have closed by now" not in my area most in the book are still the same as a couple of years ago with just as many additions as deletions. Have you looked at the book for your area? How many 2 for 1 meals do you need to get your money back?

        • Dunno where u have dinner but its 2 times for me.

    • +6

I get my money back with my first 2 dinners and go out for at least 25 dinners a year using the entertainment book so it is good value for me.
      .

  • Is the EB coming out much earlier this year?

    • +4

No it is 12mths from purchase now rather than set dates.

The new app is trash. Won't even start up. Avoid

  • not as good value as before but still pretty good
got the mutli city last year, COVID hit so was hard
went to hunter valley and got over 200 bucks value so got it back
sydney city is hard to use vouchers, most places dont open during the week (like the bars/restaurants) hopefully they will open up with more companies starting to go back to work

will consider the mutli city again, mines has until june

  • Does this still renew in July? So would be pointless buying now? Unsure how it all works now

    • +1

No longer fixed dates. The 1yr/2yr expiry starts once your membership has been activated, which is different to purchased date. So you can buy now, activate later. Activation is usually fast, but better to activate a day or so ahead of when you plan to actually use it, especially if it's on a weekend. At least that was the process for me when I bought it last year.

      • Ah, great to know! I've put off buying it the past few months due to the original July thing but might get it now. Thank you!!!

Many restaurants are not accepting the discount voucher, because of covid blah blah blah…. don’t buy it!

  • Also last year we couldn't use much

  • Between moving to digital and COVID, Entertainment Book has drastically reduced in value. Voucher swapping was a thing, and digital essentially removes that. Granted it was always a privilege and not a right, but it obviously factored into the equation.

The reduction in value with restaurants and gift cards too, has negatively impacted its value prop.

Only the charity support thing remains, but you're better off just giving directly to the charity if that's your thing.

    • The app works on up to 4 devices for one membership. Under the same roof of course!

  • I must admit I've been having great deals via other channels like The Fork, Liven, Scoopon etc. Last year was the first time I stopped extending my Entertainment Book purchase (due to Covid) and I no longer see as much value when purchasing this anymore.

I purchased on Saturday but still haven't received the gift card. I assume it will eventually come by email?

    • Same with me no news on the giftcard

      • Did you get the gift card?

        • not yet did they email it to you?
