Yes. I know that pirating books or papers is not a right way to do. Actually, I have co-authored in some book chapters and papers so I quite understand the system. It is not fair when authors have to purchase to access to their intellectual property after submitting it to publishers.
When you are pursuing your academic career, you sometimes feel that books in your uni’s library aren’t enough for your research/study. If you live in poor/developing countries, the situation will be much worse when the fee to access to knowledge is out of your pocket.
This problem is currently controversial in academic communities. That is why open-access is now an emerging solution to address these issues.
I understand the system. I just don’t like it. I believe knowledge should be free for everyone.
