Pressure Cooker Choices

Hi guys, we are looking for a pressure cooker that does the job well. We already have a Zojirushi rice cooker so we won't need a multi functional one. Budget around $250 is fine. Any good recommendations? Just for a small family of four.

Thanks.

We've got the Breville BPR200 Fast Slow Cooker. Use it ALL the time, makes the best 90 min pulled pork/lamb/beef brisket, and is really easy to clean. Had it for years, never had a problem. Also never used the slow cooker function - intended to when we bought it, but pressure cooking is, well…faster than slow cooking! ;)

    • Ive got the Fast Slow too, it's awesome. Had it for 3 years so far with no issues!

    • Another vote for the Fast Slow cooker

I've got a Breville Fast Slow Pro. Love it.

Saw instantpot on special at Costco Docklands this morning. Supposedly good.

    • The Instantpot is really good. The Costco price was $120 a few weeks ago. We bought another pot for a friend of ours. I like the Stainless Steel pot and the lid seals well. I had a Breville Fast/Slow Pro but I gave it to my brother; the lid could be unreliable for sealing and I wasn’t keen on the non stick bowl. However, I do think the controls are better than the Instantpot.

      • I'm sure the Instantpot thinks you are really good too :-)

    • We bought an instantpot pre-xmas from a deal here
It is outstanding and we love it - used at least twice a week and that is in summer
In winter soup/stew time that might be 5 times a week

  • Thanks everyone, will check it out. Space is limited too. Hoping for one with a smaller footprint.

    • Would stovetop be an option in that case?

  • I have the Philips HD2237/72 and would recommend it however I think the extra purchase of the stainless steel pot is necessary. The non stick is alright for some things but wasn't very non-stick and could be difficult to clean at times.

If I was purchasing one today however I'd probably look at getting the Ninja Foodi Multi Cooker OP300 as the reviews are good and it also is an air fryer. Has a smaller 4L capacity though.

  • I had the Phillips All in One and enjoyed using it. Sadly, it died without warning and I picked up a Kmart pressure cooker because we missed having one in the kitchen. I am very pleased with the results and, at $59, is super value for money. If I get a year out of it, I'll still be happy.

  • silit - used to be around - still is at david jones but haggle or wait for sale

  • Just don't put oil in it. ie trying to make KFC at home.
I have the Breville Fast/Slow one, and is ok as a pressure cooker, but I miss the old stove top type. Seemed to pressure cook better (sometimes too good). Works great as a slow cooker.
