Completed Gaming Trifecta, 3080 + 5900 + Ps5, Took 6 Months

Through a combination of good luck and some effort I was finally able to complete the gaming setup this week, rtx 3080 and ryzen 5900x and ps5 disc version, but took 6 months! This is crazy… who else is missing pieces?

    I managed to get a 3080 in early December. Originally ordered an EVGA through PLE close to launch, I think I'd still be waiting. In mid-late November decided to order an Gigabyte model through Scorptec as they were reporting dates much closer, that one arrived within 2-3 weeks. Worth the couple of hundred extra to get it in time for the Christmas break (My old machine was 6 years old).

    I got a CPU straight away, wasn't particularly excited by the new AMD CPUs and their price premium over previous generations so went for a 3900xt.

    I won't move to a new console until my existing one dies tbh. I usually end up mostly using consoles as media centres, with the odd bit of gaming.

    i7-10700K / 3080 / PS5

    Got in on that midnight launch 3080 from PLE, still took about a month and a half to ship out mine in the queue =(
    Happy enough with the new setup, last major PC upgrade was years ago and I was starting to feel the fps dropoff with each new title.

    Ironically after all the hubabaloo and mad dash to secure the console I'm still waiting for some actual PS5 games to come out, not interested in what little there is currently but the 60fps upgrades on last gen things are nice in the meantime.

    Hopefully won't need to worry about budgeting more on gaming hardware for many more years (INB4 the Switch Pro gets announced this year)

    I would have thought the trifecta is a ps5, series x, 3000/6000 series. I got the 3080 in November and ps5 on launch week, pre ordered day dot to get it though.

    I am close to completing the Trifecta +1. Got the XBSX and 5800x (missed the 5900x) in November, got the RTX 3080 right before Christmas and just scored the PS5 last week (delivering next week). I hope the 5800x counts (it does the Curve Optimiser thing very nicely, so I think its a somewhat good sample).

    Did you get 2 of Ozbargain's most popular monitors? LOL

        Thats even better! The 43 inchers are overkill for my small workspace at the moment. I am thinking of getting the Samsung CRG9 instead in the future.
