$75+ for only 1.1L and something so tacky that it looks like it's been pulled from a Fisher Price kitchen set? LOL Who on earth even signed off on that horrendous analogue dial and that super generic power symbol of a button?

And did no one conduct any due diligence on what that symbol actually means? It's called a standby symbol and it indicates that a device has a sleep mode or low power mode. Does this kettle have a lower power/sleep mode? smh I feel like this is an early April Fool's post… Is this legitimately even available for purchase?

At least Kmart's smart kettle is cheaper and looks a million times better.

did you really just write an essay about why you hate a kettle?

      • +4

he has a point, the dial looks like its off a kids toy. I find most bodum stuff to be quite appealing at first glance but dig deeper and they are pretty naff.

      • 🀣 Yup. It's so damn ridiculous I had to rant haha

    • I think this kettle is designed for pour over coffee. The temperature control thing and the extra pointy spout seem like an effort to accomodate doing pour over. And if you use it for you over coffee 1.1L is actually a sweet spot.

if you are doing a pour over coffee, you are way better off using a proper gooseneck kettle, most of which will allow you to set temp to the degree, rather than 10 degree increments. I think you pay a massive premium for the see through gimmick on these.

        • Yeah I know but a goose neck kettle with temp control often costs around two hundreds for some reasons. I am not defending this product but just pointing out what it was designed for. Also looking at their stock photo it might be specifically designed for French press which is more than fine for that. I am not buying this thing anyways.

Good tip on the kmart one

Thanks, that Kmart kettle looks like my sunbeam cafe kettle which was over $100 (great kettle though)

    • The symbol doesn't indicate a sleep / low power mode, from what I read. Agree on the dial though 😁

      • Look up IEC standards on Wikipedia. It should list what all the symbols represent.

    • At least Kmart's smart kettle(kmart.com.au) is cheaper and looks a million times better.

Looks like they copied an existing Sunbeam design.

    • Just finished watching the best of Malcom Tucker from the Thick of It and had to check the user name to see he didnt write this too

  • it says aimed at tea drinkers , i litre makes a full carafe or tea or many cups, my kmart and haro cold brew carafes are only 1 litre so i think this size kettle targets people that don’t do large amounts of water in one go and like the bodum look on their counter, and want temp control.

I clicked and looked at the kettle but was more intrigued by the rewards program Beans. Is it one of the crappiest or what? Beans expire in 180 days, can only use voucher, gift card or Beans, no Beans back if you use Beans in an order, can only use Beans for 25% of order value. Who's working in their marketing department? Absolutely bad value.

Wasn't this $49 on sale recently via amazon.?

    That dial though πŸ˜‚

Brutal. I don't think many will be buying this ugly kettle after the first poster's comment
