New low for this new release. Seems decent model but fairly low number of parts. Good price considering Control+ system

wait til amazon price matches and then buy.

    • Why? Why not just buy and get the free gift ?

  • I asked for a price match and they declined

    • Asked Amazon? How do you do that?

      • Clicked Customer service, Contact Us link in the Amazon iOS app. Responded within 10 minutes.

        • Has this worked before?

@zerog101: nope, they have a "no price match" policy. they still match (or better) prices on their own accord.

            • @the4thzodiac: Can someone try to get BigW to price match their online price in store ?
Normally the silly buggers force you to do a click and collect :)

lol Amazon doesn't do price match request

  • FYI: This set only got 374 pieces = $0.360 each piece.

This is still a decent way of getting the control hub (Battery box + bluetooth ) and motors.

    How fast does it go

    • It's easily the fastest Lego RC vehicle released in the last 15 years. This video should give you a pretty good idea and not only that, but it can actually drive surprisingly well "off-road" on uneven and loose surfaces (unlike almost all of the other Lego sets marketed as "off-road" or heavy duty vehicles which have absolutely no traction and get stuck on towels or thin throw rugs like they're boulders).

You'd have to go back to the really old Lego RC Race Buggies of the early 2000s to find equally-agile Lego RC sets that aren't a total disappointment in terms of acceleration and maximum speed.

While the Off-Road Buggy still pales in comparison to toy RC cars that cost less than $50 dollars, in terms of Lego's past catalogue of similiarly-sized RC cars, this thing moves at a comparative light speed and has instantaneous cornering and handling abilities.

The biggest let down by far is the still-terrible Control+ app and the specific touch interface for the Off-Road Buggy; it's absolutely ass-backwards jank to use (one joystick for both acceleration and direction) and just a massive step down from a dedicated physical remote control like you used to get with the older PU motor sets. Plenty of reviewers complain about it on the official Lego S@H page, but Lego representatives in typical Lego fashion respond with nothing but "LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA, I cannot hear what you're saying…".

I daresay some of these Toys R Us prices are actually decent.

  • Still seems overpriced to me..

Top gear car has same control+ parts and same sale price with more/useful pieces?

    • +1

This is faster than the Top Gear car, has suspension and unique wheels. No brainer.

      • Fair enough. Good reply.

Hmm they look like the wheels on my rc car that went hard and shattered (i just passed it on to my kids)..

I hope these lego wheels all survive the test of time.
