This one doubles as a camping bench

Me: "Why Domestic? Ah…. Dometic Brand"

  • Thats a great price. I have the 70L and that takes up a large amount of boot space.

How is it at storing pfizer vaccines?

  • I have this and it does not keep ice for 7-10 days - 3 at the most.

It is a great item though

Agree, I don't think any ice box can keep ice for 7 to 10 days in most Australian environmental conditions

    • seconded. good icebox nonetheless

I use the 13LT ATM and can get 4 days out of that.

Don't use party ice, you need to use ice bricks for its density. That's where most people go wrong.

You use party ice for topping up on top.

Confirmed by many many campers this lasts 7 days not 10 like advertised.

Watch some YouTube vids on how to use an ice box as it also needs to be stacked correctly. You also need to cool the icebox temp too before use.

        • Will give it a shot

          • @tnarg: Another good tip is to use gel packs, not water. they tend to stay frozen for 5 days alone, especially the 3.5LT ones.
They freeze to around -15 when water only freezes to -1

I'm yet to try the dry ice packs but they're meant to go down to -20 if your freezer can go that low.

A cheap alternative? Get sea water and freeze it, the salt will lower the freezing temp usually around -10 and having it in 3LT milk containers is a large chunk of ice!! That combined will last 4 days alone.

    • I agree, the marketing of ice boxes is way off. This brand and style is good at keeping things cold, but if you expect icy cold more than 72 hours after you put ice in, you need a powered fridge/freezer.

    • They say this thinking you wont open it for 7-10 days.

      • And it is full of nothing but ice

  • Looks good.

A fair bit of weight to haul once stocked - hopefully you don't have to move it far!

I have the 55L version which I take on camping trips.

I managed to snag the 70L version for $213 delivered from Appliances Online and i definitely won't be able to carry that thing on my own once it's full.

    This thing would be huge!!!!

Haha well this ice box is 19KG alone. Filled would be over 100kg.

Consider it a safety measure, you know no one is going to steal it on you!
