Apple MacBook Pro 16" from $3,339 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart

90

Another deal on the 16-inch Macbook Pro

2.6GHz 9th Gen Intel i7 512GB - Space Grey (MVVJ2X/A) for $3,339
2.3GHz 9th Gen Intel i9 1TB - Space Grey (MVVK2X/A) for $3,839
For some reason the i9 1TB in silver is $30 more expensive

In stock in 2 stores in QLD, and can be ordered for Click and Collect in the rest of QLD and all of NSW.
Hopefully this means that Officeworks will price beat.

Given the expectant announcement of more Apple Silicon computers in the future, cannot vouch for how well these will hold in value in the long term.
Unfortunately the Umart M1 models cannot beat the current deal post by Buy2Much from MWave (which expires 3 days from now)

    M1 not inside

    • +6

I’m holding out for the M1 chip too.

      • Wouldn’t it be M1x chip this year?

  • +1

M1 chip is the must. I means too much including future

  • +2

Imagine paying that price for 2 generation old intel.

    • +3

I only paid 2300 for my base model gen 1 15 inch retina. Was an amazing computer, would still be using it if the laws of physics didn’t apply to doors.

  • The irony that big sur not supported on a mid 2012 MBP i5 16GB with SSD and intel 4000 chipset in perfect condition - but windows 10 pro is. It would be ewaste once Catalina security updates cease if it were not for Microsoft.

    • Catalina struggles on this device, even with a SSD. Big Sur performed worse last time I tried it. Ended up going back to Mojave.

It may not have M1 but for some class of users, many pieces of important software is not available on apple silicon. Unfortunate, but while I'm holding out for M1x, if something were to happen to my current machine, i'd have to get the intel as it's critical to my work.

Refer to this to make a decision on whether M1 is ready for you.

    • Great link, thanks for sharing. Genuinely surprised that the Adobe Creative Cloud isn't optimised for M1 and equally frustrated but not surprised that MATLAB isn't. I hope they will be by the time the 16in is launched.

      • Do they run in Rosetta?

  • +1

Buying M1 instead of this or wait for apple's new M1X

    • +2

If you can wait, then the M1X looks very promising

      • I've purchased a Macbook Air M1 256G but very tempting for the 2nd gen apple chip, perhaps a new designed for Macbook series according to humour

    • +2

Agree with perhaps. Wait if you can, regret it you don't.

  • It's not just the fact the it doesn't have the M1. There are plenty of other changes Apple are expected to make to the Pro this year that will make quite a big difference

  • 3k clearance maybe.

Gonna be a hard sell once new one is released

  • Hanging onto my 2017 15".. Not upgrading to any M1 macs because I like the option of dual booting to Windows, although I rarely do that nowadays.

  • I wouldn't buy this. I just got my Apple 16 inch MBP refunded as there is a known fault with the camera causing the display screen to crack.
Each time it cracks the display and the touch bar needs replacing AND your HDD gets wiped.

It's better waiting for the new model to come out.

I ended up buying a mini mac for the time being…

    • Isn't that when you stick a webcam cover to the screen?

Apple issued a warning about MacBook camera covers last year after reports of screen cracks.

      • It's not just specific to webcam covers unfortunately. They're more sensitive in that area. I wasn't using one at all.
