because they always will, but I guess just the influx of opening old sets on youtube,switch,etc by streamers combined with trading cards in general rising during covid times, and these new pokemon sets.
Mainly because kids/teens/young adults got the hype from their favourite streamers who bought these and opened them on stream.
People getting back into the hobby due to covid and looking for stuff to do at home. Value of old and rare pokemon cards also subsequently increasing

I had a box like this from 2004 or 2005 can't remember. Would that be worth anything today.
If it was sealed and unopened from that era it would be worth somewhere in the realm of 20K if a quick check of eBay is accurate.
Oh wow. Got it as a gift when I was 4. Half of the stuff is missing, but I still have some of the cards and most of the power up cards as well as the book thing and tokens.
If opened value will be negligible. Although if any booster packs are unopened that's a few hundred dollars
