Facial Hair Removal for Men

Saw a post regarding men with beards, seems like the majority has beards and the main reason is that shaving everyday is a hassle.

I, unfortunately, am part of the group of people in which full beards are not in our DNA and any attempt of growing will only result in a sad patch. So to look presentable, I have to shave basically everyday but because of my thick black hair, no matter how close I shave, I still look like I have a five oclock shadow. I've succumed to plucking recently because of this.

Been considering facial laser hair removal. Wondering if anyone has gone through it and if theres any complication or regrets? What should I expect to pay? Female advice is welcomed.

    when you say plucking.

are you plucking all your facial hair?

Yeah.. takes like an hour.. but it lasts for a few weeks before the hairs gets thick/dark again, and i would just pluck a few hairs in between.

If I started shaving, I would need to shave it everyday.

      • i'm intrigued may try a patch lol

get a stubble / beard trimmer and run without any guides. instant 3-day growth and no more need to shave or tend to a beard

I use and recommend the Franco Cozzo method ;)

I don't know too much but I did hear some men use Rogaine on their facial hair to promote growth.

I once tried Nair on a test patch on my cheek - hair was gone but it blistered.

ouch, yeah thought about trying Nair but the miss recommended against it.

I've always thought it's strange that men who shave everyday may as well permanently remove it. I think the fact that shaving can cause ingrown hairs and irritate the skin highlights the fact that it's an obsessive cultural habit.

The only thing about waxing and laser hair removal is that I've seen new hair come back really thin and child-like for years afterwards. Also a lot of men think that they can't grow a beard at all and this suddenly changes in their late 20s/early 30s, about the time the white hairs start coming through.

yeah. What makes me pause is reading things like this, but then again you are always going to hear the bad exceptions to anything. Saying that, my sister in law is a beautician and she does laser hair removal - I wouldn't trust her with operating a laser pointer let alone a IPL system.

  • I do laser beard sculpting and it works really well for me.

My first two sessions were full face, but I decided to just do sculpting so I wouldn't regret it. Now it's super easy to maintain, no need to shape my beard, just trim to whatever length I want and do laser touchups every few weeks

  • There are a lot of different popular, taper haircuts especially people who are trying to make their hair after the quarantine. My boyfriend was making a disconnected undercut style this time. It looks really stylish and interesting to me. I really liked this style, especially if you are having long hair at the top.Source
