  • Hey guys, its a bit off topic but what do u guys think about resistance bands. Are resistance bands just resistance bands doesnt matter what brand is it? I am doing some powerlifting training and would like to add it for my training. Thanks

    • IMO spend more for well reviewed, tested bands. Last thing you need is a snapped band taking an eye out

    • I've been using the Bodylastics set from Amazon and it is great. Not always available though and a bit pricey.

  • Is the Pull Up Rack best for the price?

  • Was waiting on this deal coming back for a while for the Pull-up Squat Rack but now I'm genuinely thinking there are better pieces of equipment that go for a similar price or less for pull ups and dips - and yes I know the Aldi one isn't for dips. Even a full on cage can do all this (pull up variations, dips, etc) for 500-600$. I'm surprised you can't get gym equipment for 'personal' (NOT commerical) use for a fair price. Even some of the Australia made stuff is ridiculously expensive. Obviously that stuff is rated for higher kgs but it's also designed for commercial usage where as a person with a home gym may actually not 'abuse' the frack out of it!

Any suggestions for pull-up and dip cages?

  • Damn it! Went to the store 5mins after opening and the squat racks were gone. I don't really know how special buys work. Will they restock these tomorrow or have I missed out?

    • I'm pretty sure they put all the stock out I saw three of them get sold while I was there this morning

    • Generally special buys are not restocked. If it is not available in store, ask a manager if the product arrived, if it has and it has sold out, get them to check other nearby stores for stock.

On the odd chance some extra stock was delayed it may arrived later down the track.

    • Had to go to 3 different stores to get the squat rack. Luckily one of the ALDI dudes checked the stock in the other stores and told me which ones had stock. Managed to buy one at around 10:30 am thanks to him.

Somei dummy must have bought two of the box 1 of 2 since there was only two boxes of box 2 of 2 left in one of the stores. Some poor woman was grabbing those two boxes and putting them in her cart.

    • A first for me too, queued at around 7:45 which was about right timing. It seems around the same time each year that this squat rack is part of their special buys. 2nd in queue this morning at my local, there was 2 left on the way out at about 8:40 this morning. Thanks to the staff member for getting a trolley to put it in, completely overlooked this and store manager for assisting in getting it in the trolley!

The 2 boxes just fitted inside my smallish sedan, 1 box in boot the other across the rear seats. I thought I’d have issues after reading some people struggling to fit it in their station wagons and 4wds and having to remove the packaging.
Perhaps they’ve changed the boxing this time?

      • The uprights used to be one piece so one of the boxes was over 2m long. Now they’ve changed it to two pieces with a joining section, probably exactly for this reason to make it fit in smaller boxes!

  • Chadstone:
    Curled barbell: sold out
    Straight barbell: sold out
    Dumbbell: about 10 in stock

    Cheltenham:
Curled barbell: sold out (apparently "on hold for staff")
    Straight barbell: sold out
    Dumbbell: about 10 in stock

    Morabbin DFO:
    Curled barbell: 1 in stock
    Straight barbell: 2 in stock
    Dumbbell: about 10 in stock

  • Well the dumbbells don't have spin locks like shown in the catalogue instead really cheap and poor quality spring clamps
    Same goes for the Barbell.
I'm not sure if there was two versions but we took them back and couldn't find ones with spin locks

    • Yep mine have the spring clamps too. They’re so hard to compress that I can’t even get them on properly

      • +1

I would take them back. They were so hard to get on yet they still don't hold the weights firmly in place.
I can't believe I got up at 8:30 in the morning to get such a disappointing purchase

  • Went to the local few Aldi's after finishing my night shift on Saturday morning, but was unable to score a squat rack. No future gains for me :(
