Has Anyone Used a VPN to Buy from Another Region? - GOG

Recently, when checking out various deals on Ozbargain for pc game deals, I've seen many people advocating for using a VPN to change your region to another in order to take advantage of regional pricing for a better deal (mostly on GOG, but I assume that other stores also have this).

So I wanted to ask, has anyone actually done this, and how did it turn out? Were there any problems? If I wanted to do the same, is it as easy as using my VPN to move to another region, starting up gog, and buying the game?

Thanks.

  • My Youtube account thinks I'm in India, thanks to OzBargain.

  • They're digital items. Go for it!

  • Many times. My YouTube is from Argentina, most of my games are just steam codes bought from elsewhere and activate no worries.

  • There is always a risk associated with doing this as it infringes the T&Cs of many sites.
Doing this on Steam for example, will get your account banned.
    Same thing with Humble Bundle.
I would always advise to only do this with new accounts and never with your main account unless you feel fine with the risk of losing all your games.

    • If the video game market ever punished a buyer by stealing all of that buyer's games by locking them out of their account then that buyer should feel free to pirate all they want from that point forward.

      • Have a look at Reddit re Humble Bundle.
