[SUBS, Prime] Greenland Added to Amazon Prime Video

310

6.4/10 on IMDB

4K, HDR etc

Good movie (for a disaster flick), I liked it!

Was added to Amazon on Feb 5, but only just noticed it!

A family fights for survival as a planet-killing comet races to Earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet's fragments, the Garritys experience the best and worst in humanity while they battle the increasing panic and lawlessness surrounding them. As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.

      Agreed

    • Agree, got 30 minutes in and had to switch it off

    • -1

      Agreed also, boring, nothing happens.

      • -1

Litterally another watch people being pieces of shit, but some surrive, but despite surrive we ain't gonna bother showing how they can rebuild a totally (profanity) up planet because its impossible to live on dust.

    • the end was very cheesy

    • +7

Movies are personal matters. So for some the movie may be ok but for others boring.

Mind us telling which movies are good? This way can tell ppl what kind of movies person u r and hence would make ppl have informed decisions.

      • -2

Not sure what the problem is I enjoyed this movie alot and personally think movies like fast and furious, marvel movies like infinity war and Captain Marvel, transformers etc are peak cinema but that's my opinion

      • -1

I am not sure what movie person I am, maybe I should tell everyone my background before leaving a comment.

"I am just a normal dad in mid-30s, a Netflix user watched this in lunch time with nothing to do at home when kids are at school, try to turn the 5.1 to the max and shake the house but found this free movie not really good. "

The CGI is ok but the storey is just too predictable, the mum is going to find her son in one of the medical tents, the dad found a truck just going to the north; hey just drive to Canada, there is a flight waiting for us; the next scene is arriving the airport and the last flight is on the runway; just go to Greenland, we could 100% find the shelter, I have never been to Greenland, it looks big on the map but the plane just crashed next to the airport and they could just walk to the shelter in a snowy field…and after 9 months, yeah

hope this is up to your standard.

Lots of movies I don't !Ike. But you know what? I'm not pathetic enough to seek out threads on them and post trash talk on them.

What a sad waste of a life.

Movie should be called 'chase the insulin' …

  • +7

    Just rewatch 2012, way better

  • +2

Worth a watch if you like Gerard Butler style movies.

    • +5

people getting kicked into a bottomless pit?

      • +2

        this is

      • +1

Well, looks like I'm watching 300 again this weekend.

  • +1

    This was so bad.

  • +3

If you want the KFC of disaster films, it's not terrible.

  • +1

Was mehh, would be disappointed if I went to see at the movies but decent for a new release VOD where you don't have to think

  • +1

very exciting queuing and traffic jams - difficult to build nail biting queuing and traffic jams but thought it was good effort..

    • +2

Sitting in a traffic jam is a pretty accurate representation of how we are all going to die in a comet disaster.

      • +4

Pretty sure we are going to die from a lack of toilet paper judging from recent events.

  • It was ok but that family has the WORST luck at every scene 😂🤦‍♂️

  • +4

I was expecting a big CGI destruction-fest at the end (as you typically get in disaster movies), but instead got the equivalent of Tyrion Lannister being knocked out during battle and cutting to him waking up after.

    • Thanks for reminding me. That was very lazy from the producers.
But nothing beats Season 8 Episode 4 and onward…

  • What a Bargain!

  • +2

    i watched it today…i wish i didn't

  • +3

but … Morena … guys, even her beauty couldn't save this movie ?

    • Every scene with Morena I kept asking myself, "Why didn't she get more screen time in Deadpool 2?"

      • ^^^ that too

        • While she looked gorgeous in Firefly, I haven't really found her attractive since. However I do enjoy her acting, she was great in V.

    • She couldn't save Firefly either

  • Very disappointing and really total rubbish vs other in that theme .

  • +5

Watched it last week, I also enjoyed it :)

  • I watched this last year. Was already available.

  • +6

very good movie actually. quite entertaining and focus on characters as compared to constant rush in similar themed movies.

  • +3

How can this be a bargain? Now we should start posting any new movie added to Prime.

    • +3
      • -4

Hey Spacey can you be useful and post when a new episode of The Stand comes along m8 ?

  • Not as much disaster porn as 2020, but still reasonably enjoyable

  • +1

Movie in the “so bad it is kind a good in a way” category.

    Gerard Butler man.

He pretty much killed everyone on board that plane, no worries. Imagine sitting there about to take off and some winner is like, "sorry gotta stop this whole operation because I'm going after MY family" how annoyed would you be as you see the fuel igniting, all because this smart-arse had to get off at the last minute I mean geez.

Then he risks everyone's life again when they stop that small plane. Then he ends up killing the pilot, because clearly the plane was overloaded and they crashlanded against that cliff face. Remember how Butler goes into the cockpit to "help" the pilot and the pilot’s like "leave me here". Subtext: you just killed me mofo, now f off, I've had about enough of you!

    • +1

Yeah, you don't give a toss about anyone yet to watch the movie, do you? I mean, it's not like a Usual Suspects kinda ending, but still…

      • I think people should still watch it for Gerard B’s acting. I mean is that his “I’m constipated” or “I’ve got the runs” face.

  • +2

spoiler: they were in Greenland for like 2 minutes at the very end. Movie goers should ask for money back as it misleads the patrons….99.8% of the movie was NOT in Greenland

  • Basically its Daredevil (Stick), 300 (Leonidas) and Deadpools GF in a movie.. in summary, cheating, meteor and type 1 diabetes..

  • I had to sit through the movie "We Can Be Heroes" in Netflix.
Trust me "Greenland" is not half as bad.

  • +1

    Where's the bargain here ?

  • I found the movie quite good. Definitely found it entertaining and around 7/10

    • Solid 5/7

      • Better than Fight Club but not quite Dark Night.

  • This movie teaches you that if you are a Karen, or act like a Karen, you will get what you want.

    • yeah it would have been better if butler had used the hammer on everyone calling him a karen

      • Now that would be a movie..

        • +1

yeah in the old days you can imagine the cheers in the cinema everytime some creep said karen and butler just smiled when reaching for his hammer….like bronson in deathwish

  • If you like the idea of end of world
    Aussie made and slightly brutal/raw

    Check out "these final hours"
    https://youtu.be/QaoF6byFQFU

It got a low score but the premise I enjoyed, and the various characters dealing with the end of the world in different ways eg: off their head on drugs, praying, murdering, etc

  • Predictable but enjoyable to watch.

  • +1

i agree with most comments, movie not that good.

For me its when they start introducing filler to complete a movie…Like when the kid losers his meds, when the kid gets kidnapped etc…
