belt is made from italian leather

    what grade of leather?

    • +1

Don't know what grade. It's ok but certainly not higher quality leather. I've had one for a couple of years and it's ok.

    Are these still $17.49 (again)?

  • +7

Okay it's time these guys get banned. They post the same price couple weeks. Probably never sell at the pre discount price as there is some code always active. PS $6 on AE

    • I've been looking a AE but which ones are genuine leather? many seem like they are fake leather.

      • Before you ask that you should actually understand leather grades. "Genuine leather" is bearly leather at all and just processed left over, only grade lower is bonded leather which is more vinyl. Grades are as follows;

        Full-grain leather
        Top-grain leather
        Split-grain leather
        Genuine leather*
        Bonded leather*

Full grain prices would be starting around $50. Popular aussie made ones are RM Williams

Yep. A couple of sneaky reposts might be acceptable, but the post history of this user is too blatant. This is now just using Ozbargain as a classified ad posting to drum up traffic to their Amazon store

Must be that time of the fortnight, more Bostanten spam…

Well, if they're gonna repost deals, I'll repost my experience…

A heads up on the quality of these belts. I bought one a while ago and after only 6 months use on weekends only the latch mechanism broke meaning I could not undo the belt…

It took me a while to gradually rip the belt open with my hands. If I wasn't strong enough to do so I assume the only way I would have been able to remove it would be to cut it off. I was at a concert at the time so finding a cutting tool would have been impossible. All the while needing to use the bathroom at the same time would have been a nightmare…

Later upon inspecting what went wrong, the latch mechanism has a small nub on the lever that catches on the latch so that you can unlock it. This had worn down on my one so that it no longer worked. If you buy one of these belts, whether it lasts 6 months or 6 years eventually that mechanism will wear down. Something to consider.

    • Imagine you have a stomach upset and urgently need to use the toilet! I'd only consider a belt like this with an emergency release mechanism

Just for balance I own a few of these for years and all are working and in great condition. I love them as my notched belts always looked worn after a few months with hole stretch and wear. I did end up cutting one off when I first bought one and desperate to use the toilet. My fault as I did not work out how the latch worked. Yes this is posted a lot but perhaps posting it every couple of months would be a good compromise.
