  • I got the House Stark Titan before Christmas. It’s a great chair but it is firm so be wary. I got used to it after a few weeks.

  • +3

How are you getting those prices? Do you take the discount off twice somehow?

    • yeah i want to know too. With the discount the Titan PU should be $599?

    • Ditto, $549 is the cheapest i can see any model. No $464/$514, the prices i can see are the same level i've seen since Jan or so.

  • +11

For these prices you're mad to get a gaming chair - you're way better off getting a decent office chair like Ergohuman.

    • +2

But where's the street-cred in that?

      • +2

Nerds dont leave the house, why would they need street cred?

    • +3

But I want the slight advantage when trying to quick scope someone.

    • -1

      Scroll past..

      • Care to elaborate?

    • but these chairs give me a 0.2FPS increase

    • The Ergohuman is not that decent for value. You can get far better chairs for the same price.

      • -1

Sure, but it's the same price as these and light-years ahead.

        • I am the first to dump on SecretLab and the rest of the 'Me too' rebranded OEM gaming chairs, but just because the Ergohuman is better than those does not mean that they are good.

          • @Monsta-AU: Don't take my post as singing the praises for Ergohuman - simply that it's a similarly priced comparable item that is considerably better regardless of how you look at it. Please add to the discussion with other options if you know them.

            • +1

@Hinee: Better than SL sure, but that is a bar low enough to step over.

Keeping it to higher-backed chairs, usually with headrest & armrest options yet look like more than the average boring office chair.:
Serati Pro - various upgrades to $1100 or so but excellent. Worth the extra cash.
Ranger Multishift - about the same price, $700 range. Super heady duty, 150kg rated.
Orthopod Classic - Starts in the $700 range
Buro Vela Highback - Comes in at $650 loaded with headrest and arms. A bit more on the boring side.

              Some others:
Steelcase Series 2 - $719 from Steelcase direct.
ErgoSelect Spark or Swift - Usually under $600 but looks a bit boring.
Humanscale World One at about $700, or go up to the Diffrient for under $900.

Personally, RH chairs are my personal go-tos. RH Logic 400 on runout special at Ergoport. That's a whole lot of chair for under $1700 which is under Aeron pricing and probably a better chair. The RH New Logic 220 is the best for me, I have one on order.

  • I have been watching Secret Lab chair prices for about 12 months. This is probably the best discount that they have offered.

I am still on the fence if this is good enough to buy now. I keep hoping they will over a solid 30% discount…

  • discounts already applied, so pricing is actually $629 (for the joker version for example)

  • Incorrect title price I believe.. Did OP make a mistake?

  • Couldn't find one with PUBG logo, : (

    • -1

I wanted a Battletoads one personally.

  • no rgb?

  • I had one of these chairs in the past. Not a fan ended up getting a Herman Miller. You should be able to get a second hand Aeron on gumtree for cheaper than this which will be much better.

  • +4

I'm told their Game of Thrones products have a terrible finish.

  • +12

Don't buy a gaming chair. Bucket style seats are popular in racing cars because they're lighter and keep you in place when you're under strong g-forces. This isn't a thing when you're gaming and the style is far worse for ergonomics

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yhc6mmdJC4

In australia the good office chairs around this price would be Ergohuman chairs, Buro chairs, or even the Ikea Järvfjället/Markus

    • Ikea Markus is a bad choice if you plan to sit for long. Lumbar support is ok, but the seat's edge is flat, even raised a bit, so it will press under your thighs, blocking the circulation. Look at Herman Miller's Aeron at what perfect seat pan should look like.

      • +1

For some the Aeron does the same thing. Its a mesh seat thing as far as I've seen.

        • Yes, this. Aeron is better than most but can easily cut off circulation in the legs for some people depending on the person and how the chair is set.

Most decent places stock decent heavy duty chairs. If you have back or pelvis/hip issues then you need to get something that has a convex seat pan.

Best chairs I have sat on are the Flokk brands - RH & HAG. Would take them over any Herman Miller chair. The RH New Logic 220 is amazing and beats the Embody at a similar price.

      Don't buy a gaming chair

This. "Gaming" chairs are the most idiotic thing ever conceived. Gamers Nexus did a video about it recently, and this reddit thread makes for great reading.
      https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/km4eng/gamersnexu…

  • These are over priced.

I got a BattleBull, the fabric version for half the price. come in many colours. Unlike PU leather, the fabric can last longer!

    https://www.ple.com.au/Products/635514/BattleBull-Vaporweave…

These are probably coming from the same factory in China!
Secret Lab called it the softweave fabric and in Battlebull it is call the vaporwave fabric

    ZqRaching has similar models:

    https://www.zqracing.com.au/product-category/office-chairs/s…

    • So $380 for the basic model, $500 which adds lumbar support, or $649 for the original which has status, warranty, and adds the 4D arms.

      • It should be $769 because the Battlebull model is equivalent to XL and comes with a metal base.

        • Seems equiv to the non-XL to me. Their dimensions are also measured wrong on purpose to pump their numbers.

          • @StickMan: I went by the weight. The non XL version supports up to 130kgs whereas as the Battlebull supports 150 kgs.

  • +3

I have a Titan XL in Softweave and found it great. Given I work from home a lot (thanks Covid) and sit in front of the PC for hours on end, it has done a great job. Definitely way outside the 'gaming chair' category of many of the lesser competitors.

  • +2

Please buy Ergonomic chairs if you are spending that much money…

  • Anyone got a cheaper alternative around the 400 dollar mark or less? I need a quality gaming chair.

  • I strongly recommend anyone to try before you buy!

    My experience;

    The seat is too firm.
The head pillow doesn't go low enough to sit behind the neck.
With the lower back pillow, you have to keep on adjusting/placing it behind your back. In the end, I no longer use it.

    • You should not buy anything that relies on a pillow for lumbar support.

  • +1

Don't buy PU Leather, especially at this price. This is what happens after a couple of years.
    https://imgur.com/a/xgEvEnI
(Not my image. Stolen from Reddit(?)).

Fabric is the way to go if you are getting a gaming chair imo.

Personally, as someone heavier and with chronic lower back pain, I recommend this ergo office chair from Officeworks for $319.
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/profession…

I bought it a couple of months back to replace an aging AK Racing* chair and it's the best decision I ever made.

*Note that the AK was 4 years old and still has life left in it for someone lighter/pain free but my old back needed something newer with more support for long gaming sessions.

    • Yeah PU in northern australia weather isn't a good combination. I havent had anything last longer than 4-5 years before it does this.
edit - You chose the same chair I did, it seems pretty damn good.

    • Second this

Have owned this model for almost 2 years and bought a second one for the wife just last year.

    • Does anyone know of something like the Officeworks one recommended here, but with a high back? (that I can rest my head on)

  • Can check out Ikea gaming chair. Not sure how long this model been out for??
    $250
Look better than their previous office chair.

  • +2

Anything PU is junk, stop buying this landfill furniture. Get a mesh or fabric type seat instead, it'll last and last.

Lot of negativity in this thread but I only have positive things to say. I've been using this chair for 16~17 hours per day for over a year now with covid wfh conditions.
I did have one problem finally just recently with a snapped bolt thread, but Secret Lab shipped out a new backrest to me for free last week even though my chair is out of warranty now, and it feels as good as new to me again now.
Yes the PU leather on the seatbase is peeling - but I might put a sheepskin seat cover on it or something like that - no biggie.
Mind you I'm 6'4 112kg. Any mesh chair I've ever tried has sagged out the the back on me after a few weeks and been so uncomfortable after that. And all other ergonomic or office chairs fall apart after a while under my weight. But I'm still as satisfied with my Titan today as I was the day I bought it back almost 3 years ago.
Nope, I won't hear a bad word about this company or this chair - Gamer Dad Reviews this chair a 9/10.

  • I've had the omega chair for 4 years now and been using it everyday and is still looks new like the day I brought it and I only cleaned it like once a year.
They have upgraded the leather and say it is 4 times better regarding usage to peeling ratio, so I would expect atleast 16 to 20 years before peeling starts or 10 years if I moved to somewhere extremely humid.

I am now thinking about getting a titan xl softweave as I heard it is more comfy.

  • It is hard to buy and judge a chair without seating on it. Everyone is different. I like (not necessarily good for me or need) a high back, possible recline back support, with arms not in my way of my legs - for some reason my legs tends to wide spread when sitting - maybe a doctor will fix my legs, not a chair will help. Ergo chairs are for ergo, what happens? You cannot sit in other relaxed (may not be good to your back again) position, I have physically went and tried everything I could find in Melbourne. Secret lab may not be that bad.
