Hyundai Tucson Models Face Recall

For awareness, I just saw this report on ABC:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-02-05/hyundai-tucson-recall…

"Owners of Hyundai Tucsons up to six years old have been told to park the vehicles in an open space away from garages and flammable materials due to fears a manufacturing error could lead to the car's engine catching fire, even when the vehicle is turned off.
It warned owners of Tucson models made from 2015 to 2021 to park affected vehicles in an open space away from flammable materials and structures, such as garages, and wait to be contacted. The ACCC said more than 93,572 vehicles were affected by the recall. The recall notice states the risk of engine fire remained even when the vehicle was turned off, as the circuit is constantly powered."

I hope people know how to do a search in Excel

I can only help so much :)

      • Control + F and search for the last 8 digits of your VIN. (Last 6 is the serial number, first two are model year (F to M) and factory (U))

Once found, confirm the rest of the VIN is the same. If VIN == same, call your local Hyundai dealer…

risk of engine fire remained even when the vehicle was turned off

    Spontaneous combustucson

  • This reminds me of the Samsung top-loader washing machines…

Apart from no petrol tank, wheels, seat belts, airbags…

    • reminds me of the Samsung top-loader washing machines

Hard to park these, due to the lack of rear cam.

    • … and no people inside… you'd hope

I wonder if there will be a Sportage recall announced soon as well.

    • That would be a Sportagenous combustion

  • Haven't seen a fire in a Tucson driven my those speed camera operators yet
