What happens if I reverse the polarity on the PlasmaWave? lol

    • +2

      Never cross the streams….

  • You can try it out and see however, I don't think you'd get the warranty coverage ;)
    Will await your findings

    • +1

What’s the CADR? Not specified on site as far as I can see! Also, voice assistant compatible? Thankyou

      • +2

There is no cubic airflow rate stated in any of product data sheets or the manual as far as we can see either however you can work backwards using the recommended room size 29.5 m2
Winix and most other reputable brands will have an average of 4 to 5 air changes per hour for the stated room size

so for 4 Air changes per hour (ACH) the airflow should be about 118 m3/h
and 5 ACH should be roughly 150 m3/h

so in summary you can expect the ACH to be between 118 m3/h and 150 m3/h

No voice control on these units. Controls are similar to the other Winix models

        Hope that helps

        • Just to add to the above, the smaller the room size (smaller than 29.5m2) the more air chanes per hour you will get out of the machine.

Thanks for the information, learnt something new!
          Very helpful, thank you.

          • @Edamamme: You're welcome :)

      • +2

@Edamamme My stage 5 automatically turns back on to the last used setting if you previously switched it off at the power outlet. The closest you'll get to voice activated is by hooking it up to a WiFi smart plug and run that through your voice assistant. Can't speak to this model but I'm sure the OP can let you know if the power on behaviour is the same.

        • +2

Thanks for that @KangaDrew, We haven't had a chance to try a power out restart however, I'll get in touch with Winix to confim if they indeed will restart to last used settings and report back here when I get an answer.

Any deal on WINIX ZERO 4-Stage Plasmawave?

      Cheers

      • +2

Looking around, $499 seems to be the lowest price and thats thin thin margins for us.
So, to attempt to match the big boys, the first 5 people to use the following code can get a ZERO 4 Stage at $479.00
Offer expires tomorrow at midnight or until the 5 coupons are used up

        Code: "ZERO4"

        • They are already discounted but if you enter the code at checkout you'll get the extra off to bring them to $479 (Thats for the WINIX ZERO 4 Stage, not the WINIX Compact 4 Stage)

I have the Winix Stage 5 and it's amazeballs. If that's anything to go off, this portable should be good for small rooms.

    • Agreed, it's also great that they have incorporated their PlasmaWave into this smaller unit.
It would be ideal for small to medium bedrooms plus, due to it's size and shape, it should fit into tight areas or on top of tables and desks where the other two models are not able to.

I have a Stage 5 (which I rotate between my home office and master bedroom) and the Samsung AX34T3020 sitting in the living room. I needed a smaller one for my home office so I bought the Breville LAP308 which was a POS. I tested it by spraying aerosols near it and it did bugger all. So I sat it next to the Stage 5 and sprayed again. The Stage 5 went into turbo mode almost instantly and sucked it all up while the Breville sat there thinking it was in a pure oxygen zone smh

Needless to say, the Breville was returned the day after purchase and I've just been rotating the Winix and the Samsung around the apartment. This portable will mean I can leave them all in the one place now!

        Thanks OP!

        • You're welcome!
How do you find the Samsung?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: It's actually quite good. It was heavily discounted when JB had their 20% off Samsung promo a short while ago, so I snapped it up then. It has a sleek, albeit, slightly more rounder and attractive profile and seems to do the job.

My air purifiers are more so for dust particles from carpet pile. While the Winix tends to be more sensitive to picking these particles up than the Samsung, it's not too far behind. If I could afford it, I would've bought a Stage 4 instead of the Samsung but Winix are rarely discounted so I just jumped on the Samsung while it was on sale.

            • @KangaDrew: Thanks for that, yes they do have a nice design.
Even if you're targeting just the particle pollutants, the added PlasmaWave on the Winix will definitely help.

One question re: filters. Are they available to purchase also? Can't seem to find them on your website…

        • +1

Yes, replacement filters are available. Will have them up on the website soon.
They are cylindrical in shape and are rated to last for approximately a year.
(The purifier comes with filters so no need to buy any for first 10-12 months)

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: One thing that is great about the Stage 4 and 5 (plus the Samsung) is that it has a washable filter, as you're no doubt aware. I know these smaller ones won't have that but a little bit of light tapping up against a wall outside helps shake out a lot of the dust and prolong the filter life.

            • +1

@KangaDrew: Washable prefilter could be manufactured for the cylindrical units but they would be a bit fragile and fiddly for these smaller ones for sure.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Yeah I didn't expect a pre-filter on the cylindrical style (like the Breville) as it would definitely be a fruitless endeavour. It's all good - I'm sure this will be great quality. 4 filtration levels on such a small size is pretty damn good so I'm looking forward to seeing it in action.

                Just purchased, so thanks again!

                • @KangaDrew: You're welcome!

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Deleted. Found the answer in the photos

  • +1

Bought one for the bedroom - hopefully it's sound envelope is suitable! :)

    • +1

You shouldn't have any problems with this one as it has the same sleep setting as the others

  • +1

So the difference between the 4 and the 5 is the pet filter?

    • +1

      Yes that's correct
The ZERO 4 Stage does not have the pet filters.
The other difference between the ZERO 4 Stage and ZERO+ Pro 5 Stage is that the 5 stage has version 2.0 plasmawave

      • +1

Thanks for the reply and the code above.

        • You're welcome

How noisy is this? I currently have the xiaomi 2s and I cannot use it auto because it is too noisy.

Is this the equivalent model in US?: Winix A231 Tower H13 True HEPA 4-Stage Air Purifier, Perfect for Home office, Home classroom, Bedroom and Nursery, White and Charcoal Grey https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08HW5SBQ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f…

    • Noise level ranges between 26.2 dB(A) (Lowest Speed) - 52.3 dB(A) (Highest Speed)
This model also has a sleep mode that will run at low speed and dim its lighting.

The US model you linked to does look like it's the same however, keep in mind that the Australian winix models are made specifically for Australian regulations so that they can be approved for use as an electronic appliance in Australia. They are A-Tick electrically compliant, independent hepa certification etc. with full Australian warranty.
