Why don’t you put cents per day in your title to further mislead your customers?

    • +2

      Hi there.

I'm not sure what you mean by this? The regular monthly price is $6.95, our discounted price is $3.48 / Month with 50% off.

If clients opt to pay annually, this reduces to $69.50 / year, resulting in $2.89 / Month pricing. I'd argue that advertising $2.89/month is misleading, but we allow monthly payment (not just annually). So the monthly price advertised is accurate and valid for any customer.

However if you think something else is misleading please advise and I will work to correct that,
      Cheers.

      • -1

Why is there no mention of discounted annual pricing in the post?

If someone doesn’t want to commit to you annually, how would they find pricing in the table you have provided?

        • +1

There's mention of the discounted annual prices in the table. Are you saying that it would be best if the pricing in the table instead showed monthly prices?

The overall discount is 50% RRP, regardless of billing period. When browsing the site, customers can see the price and take 50% off. The discount code will apply to all billing periods & all web hosting plans.

The OzBargain post can get cluttered if each individual price (before & after) is listed, so a blanket % discount works best. However if you think the table is misleading by only showing annual pricing, we can update to monthly instead :)

Signed up with these guys during the December deal last year. Have had zero problems with any of my services, and their customer service is top-notch.

    • Thanks for the feedback! :)

  • A couple of questions since many budget hosting providers only implement a subset of cPanel features.
    a) do you include regular backups (ie JetBackup)
    b) Do you support cPanel 92, including dynamic DNS via webcalls
    c) Do you allow SSH access, or at a minimum terminal access via the cPanel interface
    d) What is the latest PHP version supported?
    e) assume you provide Softaculous or similar?

    • Hi,

      A) We do our own internal backups currently (Daily, Weekly & Monthly) with retention. JetBackup (or equivalent) is actually something we've planned to implement this quarter of 2021, with no pricing change to clients

      B) Yes

      C) Yes, jailed shell

      D) Currently latest supported is 7.4.

      E) We have softaculous installer, yes.

Let me know if you need to know anything further

  • Seen a lot of these over the past few weeks, but what do people actually use these VPSs for? 5gb of storage seems like a tiny amount, though i suppose hosting a simple website or two through it would be fine.

    • These are web hosting plans (not VPS). We do also do VPS, currently no deals on those though - The VPS have much higher storage allocations.

5GB for website hosting is actually quite a lot when just running a single site or two. Even larger sites with many images/videos shouldn't take up a crazy amount of space.

To answer your question, these plans are used for personal & business websites (either ecommerce or not) usually.

      • +1

Ah im dumb, probably should have actually read the post rather than assume it was the same as all the recent VPS ones

  • where are your servers located? do you provide a test site or file for testing of speed or ping time?

    • Hi,

Our servers are hosted in Sydney.

You can use the following URL & IP for testing:

      https://test.obble.com.au
      139.99.166.194

If you follow the URL, I've also placed some downloadable files for you to test download speeds.
      Thanks!

  • I am currently with siteground and my domain and hosting expire around July 2021. When I tranfered it to OBBLE, do I lost the 4 month remaining with Siteground? Can the siteground file (wordpress) be easily transfer across?

    • Hi there,

Sorry for the delay! The domain on transfer will have the 4 months added (so 16 months total).

As for the hosting plan, if you pay for a plan annually with us, I'll also add the 4 months with Siteground for you if you show your current plan :)

We can migrate also for you, cheers.

      • Great!

      • Great, I'm on the same boat. I'm currently with Uptime hosting on cpanel. are you able to help with migration as well?

        • Hi there.

Yeah we will do all cPanel to cPanel migrations for free!

Also if you have a bit of time remaining with Uptime, happy to add it (With an annual plan).

  • Highly recommend these guys.

    • +1

Thanks Ronney, I think you've posted on a few of our deals - So appreciate the ongoing recommendations!

  • Can you guys easily transfer from DownUnderHost sites or will I have to manually transfer and setup everything.

    • Hi there,

If they use cPanel we can migrate easily on any plan for you.

If they're using an alternative to cPanel for management, then we will have to take a look. Is it a WordPress site? Usually able to migrate thought from most providers, feel free to send a PM here or email [email protected] with further information :)

  • I am currently with DownUnderHost and sadly they are closing down their operation and moving us to DreamIT Host which is far more expensive. I am keen to move to you guys. My service will stop in May. Should I move now? or wait until my services move to DreamIT Host and then move just before my service expired?

    • Send us a message when you make an order and we will honor the remaining time if you'd like (So buy an annual plan with us, and will set expiry to May 2022).

  • I'm having problem purchasing a host. When I choose New Customer, it doesn't provide any field to fill in my details; then when I click Continue, it says those info are missing

    • I believe you've sent us an email also, could be a browser issue & will investigate.

I'll reply to your email shortly to resolve this :)

  • I'm trying to order hosting but in the "I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers" field but it doesn't allow me to use a *.ml domain (all others work , even *.tk).

    • Hi,

Can you try register your hosting now, I've enabled .ml domains.

      Thank you.

  • Our site requires PHP 8 to run.

If this is not available, when will it be available?

    • We've just started to support PHP 8 now on our SSD plans, should all work fine for your site :)

      • Are add-on domains restricted to being created inside /public_html/?

Or can I create them outside that?

        • You can create them outside of public_html

  • Can you explain CPU and Memory Allowance? Just trying to figure out what I need for web hosting needs. Thanks

    • +1

      Sure no worries.

Essentially these values are the maximum amount that your website can utilize. So if we take the value of 100% CPU & 2 GB Memory for example:
      - Your site can use up to 1 full CPU core (100%) for doing various tasks, creating backups, loading the site, etc
      - Your site can use up to 2 GB RAM/Memory also

These values are usually reached only when your website does certain tasks, and won't be running at maximum CPU or Memory constantly, only for certain intensive tasks.

Depending on the size of your site, you may need a higher plan. Ultimately I'd suggest a smaller or mid-sized plan and upgrading as fit.

Hope that helps & feel free to email us directly at [email protected] so we can find out more about your specific needs.

5 stars given to Obble. I am so glad to have found these guys. Amazing services, very helpful and responded so fast to my question as though I have direct link to them. I have moved from Siteground and the obble server is much faster since it is in Australia.

I once asked siteground support re changing my database name and was told it is not possible. I find it hard to believe and end up doing it myself from google search.

Anyway highly recommending Obble to anyone.

Thanks so much - Just saw your review online via Trustpilot (I assume also you!).

Appreciate the feedback and always happy to help :)

  • So glad I saw this thread! I just moved a test and dev website from Zuver and the experience has been great.

Support has been great too, although I must admit that Zuver wasn't that bad at all. Having said that, Zuver Support has always friendly and helpful. Just had a bit of a huffy moment after battling to migrate a site to Zuver and the performance was terrible.

    Thanks, Alex for the help!

    Cheers

    • Thanks so much for your feedback, appreciate it :)

  • Any chance of upload/download?
Active accounts/ip/domaind, (ideally wordpress) site on these accounts to ping?

    • I'm seeing very slow speeds for obble.com.au on http://www.bytecheck.com .
My Texas based discount server is significantly faster.

      • Hiya. Would be curious for some links to your texas sites (Always room for improvement here and good to compare some results - Haven't used bytecheck before), feel free to send privately.

You can also use test.obble.com.au to test downloads, as well as 139.99.166.194 for a test IP.

The sites running WordPress to test are all customer sites, and can't really post those here. In the future we're looking to run a wordpress test also with demo content to demonstrate speeds.

Hope that helps a bit, but appreciate your concerns.

      • Here's one of our long term customers sites who is happy for us to share his link though, although has a poor bytecheck.com rating, is very fast & responsive (running WordPress also):

        sawebstudio.com

        • See for yourself - 1of 5 stars, 1060 ms
TTFB - something very wrong there: http://www.bytecheck.com/results?resource=sawebstudio.com

          • @nessism: Good afternoon,

I’ve had a few further tests with that, testing other Australian providers and most have a poor star rating with a maximum of 3 stars.

I’d imagine your Texas host has a good rating as the website test location is likely America and not within Australia.

If there’s an Australian equivalent that’d be great to test, however our customers are all (98%ish) Australian and have their own Australian visitors.

The TTFB will be affected for overseas customers as with any host local to australia.

Again as with the previous site example, it has a poor 1/5 star rating but loads extremely fast in actual practice, especially for Australians.

            Cheers!

Thank you OP for offering such a great service at a completive price :)

I've just signed up and can confirm the server speed is awesome I'm on 1000/50Mbit here in Brisbane and can confirm after I found https://test.obble.com.au/ I tested the 100mb file which was completed in under 2seconds

    • Thanks for the feedback! Glad you’re happy with the speeds

  • Any chance you could extend this a few more days?

    • Just sent you a PM :)
